518ft and 9 inches of pure pleasure!

Advantages: Plenty to do, fun for all the family, not too expensive and a brilliant circus!
Disadvantages: None unless you are scared of heights.

...absolute lover of all things Blackpool I have been meaning to get round to doing a write up on the tower for ages now, finally here it is.

Blackpool has changed greatly through the years, sadly mostly for the worst. Becoming ever more geared towards stag and hen parties and milking every penny it can from it`s visitors but if you choose what you do in Blackpool carefully it can still be a great place to visit.

One part ...
...world famous Blackpool Tower. It has seen many changes since I was a kid but unlike the rest of Blackpool it continues to change for the better.

The tower first opened it`s very impressive doors to the public on 14 May 1894 and unbelievably after just thirty years standing there was plans to pull it down because it had not been painted correctly and the salt from the Irish sea on which the tower stands on the banks of had corroded ... more

Blackpool Tower - A place worth visiting

Advantages: The whole day can be spent in the Tower
Disadvantages: Very expensive

The Blackpool Tower is one of the main tourist attractions in Blackpool, situated on the promenade. The Tower was built in 1894 and in height it stands at 158m (518ft) tall, The Blackpool Tower can be seen from other places such as Morecambe Bay and in September the Tower is illuminated which is a beautiful sight. I have visited Blackpool on several occasions and each time I have made a point to go to the Tower, there are a number of activities ...
...the years Blackpool Tower has changed in many ways and it is as enjoyable now as it was when I first visited Blackpool. The Tower Ballroom - The Tower Ballroom has been in the Tower from 1897, the ballroom is absolutely amazing and has held shows such as Strictly Come Dancing among others, there are also shows held in the Ballroom on certain nights of the week, visitors can enjoy the music from the organ or watch the dancing and they can even join ...

Blackpool tower what a let down

Advantages: good view on a nice day
Disadvantages: where do i start?

I hadn't been up Blackpool tower since i was 8 so to say this visit with my husband and 2 year old (plus a new one in a pram) was a disappointment is an understatement. We went with another couple who have a 3 year old boy so we were looking to make it a big day out. Firstly the shabby entrance is not the most inviting. There is no ramp at the front to allow ease of access for prams or wheelchairs. You have to enter the back way for this. Secondly ...
...over a town that was. Blackpool doesn't look the best on the ground but it looks worse from up the tower. There is a shop where you can buy postcards, souviners etc and a post box to post your cards to relatives. It even gets a stamp ;posted from the top of the tower'. There is also the walk of faith. A clear 3ft square piece of perspex which you can walk over if you have the guts. The tower also has an old fashioned red phone box which works. ...

A Towering Success And Towers Of Fun

Advantages: Much To Do, Fantastic Views
Disadvantages: Can be Pricy

...country. Many people flock to Blackpool in their millions every year, and thus the tower has also become a popular tourist plot for holidaymakers. The tower was constructed by Gustave Eiffel, which, if you are clever enough to work out is the same company which built the Eifel Tower in Paris a few years earlier. Although Blackpool Tower is smaller than its Foreign cousin, at 158 m (518 ft) the views are pretty impressive and no trip to Blackpool ...
...a distance, and really envelopes Blackpool as a resort. Its obvious that the people of Blackpool are proud of the iconic tower, and for this reason it acts as a beacon, symbolizing almost everything Blackpool has to offer. Look on logos, Blackpool Tower is there. Look in brochures countless pictures of Blackpool Tower are there. Go in Blackpool gift shops and hoards of Blackpool Tower merchandise is there. Perhaps then it is ironic that the tower ...

#Im on top of the world looking down on blackpool#

Advantages: Circus, ballroom, jungle jim if you have kids
Disadvantages: Dont try to make a day out of it. More for the kids as well. Overpriced

I remember when Blackpool Tower was fun and actually could be classed as a 'day out'. Now it has been reduced to an over priced, hour of rubbish. I would reccommend that you visit the circus. This is definately the best feature of the tower. Every season it hosts a new show, bursting with new talent and amazing acts. It also holds a fantastic pantomime circus at Christmas, and I would reccomend taking the kids to the tower at this time of year, as ...

Quick review of Blackpool Tower and Circus, Blackpool

I have been going to blackpool tower for years. The best part about it is the circus. It's amzing and is well worth a visit. The worst part of the tower is gone. The dinasuar ride. They have now changed it into a 3d cinema and is absolutaly great. It is a bit overpriced to get into the tower but you get a discount when you book online. The ballromm is a magnificent work of art and is the second best thing in the tower. Jungle jims is fun for the kids but is limited for children under 3. I have ben going for 7 years so if anyone has any questions then please email me at alexcallaghan@hotmail.co.uk. Thanyou! ...

We can stay all day (UPDATED)

Advantages: Animals, Educational, Fun
Disadvantages: Cost of food, drink, shop etc

problems walking. If walking is a problem, wheel chairs can be hired (free of charge) from the main reception. Pushchairs are also available at a charge of £3 plus a £10 deposit. Although the costs may seem high, when compared with other attractions like Louis Tussauds costing £26 for a family (two adults and three children) - which we got round in under an hour, Blackpool Tower £59 including the Circus (for the same two adults and three children), I think that Blackpool Zoo is great for a fun family day out which combines education with fun and the kids will want to come back. UPDATE 16/7/05 As promised we went to Blackpool Zoo yesterday, and found that we had to pay an additional £3.50 add-on per person to go into the dinosaur safari. We paid it as it was for my son's birthday and he really wanted to see what it was like, but we ...

BLACKPOOL...COME AND SEE IT

Advantages: Fun, lots to do....you want to do it again
Disadvantages: everything is money, money money

which looks really sophisticated and classy. A circus, Jungle jims (Kids playground) and you can also see the whole of blackpool by taking a trip up to the top of the tower in the lift and looking through the telescope. What an amazing view from the top, only on a nice day. Stanley Park: An amazingly big park with boating lakes, ponds, tennis courts, skate boarding ramps and so much more. Its an amazing day out at stanley park which you can get to by bus. Model Village: The model village is next to stanley park and is a real grabbing experience, tiny little trains going round tracks, tiny castles and so much more tiny models. definately a wow factor. Waxworks: The waxworks is approx £7 per person for an adult, and no its not like london. My partner was so bored with the experience but i thought it was great. models ...
