Looking for a West End show to go and see ? While I was in London, I recently took in my first musical and what a show it was. I had never heard of Blood Brothers before but I am glad now that I decided to go along and give it a try.
The story is based in Liverpool and is about twin brothers who become separated at birth as their mother can't afford both of them. Little did she know that her actions would have such drastic consequences.
The first half of the show will have you crying with laughter as you see the two boys growing up in very different environments. The second half will also have you crying but this time because of the sadness as you see the twins lives fall apart.
There is so much to enjoy about this show from the superb acting to the catchy songs that will stay in your head for days. I would jump at the chance to go again.
If you are stuck up in the upper circle, make sure you take two 20p coins so you can use the binoculars provided.
The bar gets very busy at the interval so it is a good idea to order your drinks before the show begins and they will be waiting for you at the interval.
If you get loose bowel movements at big bangs then take a spare pair of pants !
There are some swear words in the show, but not excessive, so if you don't want your children exposed to this then take them elsewhere.
On the down side, there is very little leg room and I found it quite uncomfortable to sit for so long. This seems to be a common problem with theatres as they were all built some time ago when the average height of people was much lower than it is now.
To finish off I would urge anyone looking for a great night out to go and see this show. This was my first experience of the West End but others with me, who are veterans, insisted this was the best show they have seen.
Hi! Sorry for the low rating - but you've said precious little about the show, to be honest. In fact, some of the advice is bordering on the patronising. Ah well - maybe it's just me!

Nice choice as a first musical to see. It is the best musical I've seen and I've seen a few! A nice op but a bit more detail on the plot etc would have made me give it a Vh rating not just a H.

I haven't seen the West End production of Blood Brothers, but I have seen it on tour, with a very similar production. I'm glad you enjoyed it, as it's certainly one of the best shows out there and a great introduction to musical theatre. I may have to go up to the West End and see it again. I cried the first time I saw it (one of only two times theatre has moved me that much) and probably would again!
