Advantages: Friendly staff, lovely pool, clean room Disadvantages: Dynamic currency conversion on our room costs paid by debit card
...We chose to visit the Holiday Inn Alicante Playade San Juan for a week in July after having three very pleasant stays in Express by Holiday Inns in the UK. We were not sure what to expect in terms of quality, however it was probably one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in.
The cost was ?94 per night for an en suite room with king size bed and an ?almost double? sofa bed. The room was on the third floor of the hotel and had a view of another apartment block to the rear of the hotel. However, this did not cause any problems as the apartments were quite a distance from the hotel, therefore not blocking the panoramic view.
THE HOTEL
The hotel building is over 7 floors: the ground floor, floors 1 to 5 and a floor called '-1'. If you are given a room on the '-1' floor, don't think that they are shoving you in...

Advantages: Wonderful beaches, and countryside and great food. Disadvantages: Some beaches are inaccessable to some people due to steep climbs down, and back up cliffs.
...I have to disagree with Walshies comment and agree with LJJames. There are many bungalows on the Gower Holidayvillage, about 70 I think. I believe you can book directly with the holidayvillage, which may well be what Walshies did, to get his poor accomodation, but there are many bungalows that are privately owned, one of which we booked. See www.number62.co.uk.
No. 62 was very comfortable indeed. The beds are the best I have every slept in away from home, like marshmellows! The crockery and pots and pans were the quality in any normal home, and not junk bought from a thrift shop. The whole ambiance was modern, clean, functional and welcoming, and it truly was a pleasure to stay there. Jules (the owner) has dogs and very much welcomes dogs (there are thows on sofa's and dog bowls and stone and wooden floors...

Advantages: Lovely a la carte food, pools, beach Disadvantages: Lack of veggie meals
...person for 2 weeks holiday here, including flights & transfers with Cosmos.
ADVANTAGES?
Friendly staff, very clean, good food & drink and a nice beach. You couldn't really ask for more.
DISADVANTAGES?
One thing I will say about the hotel is that there are lots of steps. If you are elderly or disabled it might be a bit of a challenge to get around. Although there are ramps, there are no lifts so it would only be possible to stay on the ground floor.
Overall I had a great holiday at BlueBay Getaway. It's an ideal place for couples or singles aged 18-45 to visit. It can be rowdy in places but you can easily avoid the games and chill out by the quiet pool/bar. The food in the a la carte restaurants was good, although the buffet restaurant was quite repetitive if you stayed for 2 weeks. I would go back again and that's not something I...
