Disadvantages: Limited dining options, bland pool

...BD48 (£66) offpeak. At these rates, the hotel really does offer excellent value. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable, very few hotels in Bahrain offer tea/coffee making in the rooms whch was one of the reasons I kept coming back. The people are pleasant and helpful, security is good and although the dining options are a bit limited, the restaurants are not bad, and there are places nearby. Well recommended.... Read review

Advantages: Warm, hot, fascinating place to visit
Disadvantages: Very humid ! 9 hour flight !

...and can house up to approximately 700-800 theatre style. The island has an excellent 18-hole golf course with a small restaurant on the 1st floor and a bar / clubhouse on the ground floor. There are also a number of museums with local artefacts and historical data / information, that are very interesting to visit, providing a number of intriguing facts about local history. i recall when the local travel management company took our group to the museum mid afternoon, I was happy to get out of the searing heat as my little bald head was frying under the rays of the sun! Advantages: Beautiful style, good food
Disadvantages: Dull rooms, can be a bit slow

...There is a bit of a rivalry between Bahrain and Dubai. The history of trade and friendship between Bahrain and the West, particularly UK, goes back decades, and until maybe fifteen years ago, Bahrain was considered the jewel of the Gulf, people would go there from around the Middle East for weekends for shopping or R&R and to get thing that weren't readily available in Saudi Arabia or Kuwait or even the UAE - basic foodstuffs, clothes, a drink... Now of course, all eyes are on Dubai and what the next massive project will be - the biggest this, the biggest that.... Bahrain can't compete on that scale but is building, is updating, and is already ahead in many ways - it is a democracy, alcohol can be bought in shops and the people are hospitable and friendly.
