BLUE LAGOON RESTAURANT

I think that of all the restaurants I have eaten at any where in the world, if asked my favourite I would instantly say 'The Blue Lagoon' in Disneyland Park, Paris.

I have read a lot of reviews on various sites over the years where this restaurant is slated, but I have eaten there on seven occasions, and each time have been extremely satisfied. In fact on a short break my husband and I had in Paris itself, we took the train into Disneyland with the main purpose of having lunch in the Blue Lagoon.

I personally think that perhaps the food is perhaps not what a lot of the reviewers have been expecting, because (and I am VERY fussy) I have always found the food there to be adventurous, exciting, extremely well cooked and presented and absolutely delicious.

The Blue Lagoon is part of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" attraction. As you walk through Adventure Land in Disneyland Park you will find the "Pirates of the Caribbean" across the bay from "Captain Hook's Jolly Roger".
Nearby you can find the entrance to the Blue Lagoon Restaurant. This is actually is located within the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride and from your table you can watch the boats sail by as they begin their perilous journey to adventure, you are in fact part of their ride!!

The atmosphere in the Blue Lagoon as you eat outside a tropical village is what makes this restaurant so special.
In this 'village' thatched roofs, waterfalls, and palm trees surround you in a truly romantic setting, a dark moonlight paradise. As you cross the bridge over the 'river' as you cross the bridge over the river and are seated on the bamboo furniture on the sand floor you really feel part of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

The warmth, smell and flickering 'fire flies' really make you think that you are in a far more exotic place than a Paris theme park. I remember the first time we dined there - it was a very cold, frosty New Year the ambience in the restaurant was warm and cosy - unforgettable.

The restaurant is divided into several sections. The tables in the back are located higher on a terrace to give good views of the boats sailing by. The best seats are lower down next to the 'river' and it's always worth asking if you can wait for one to open up or requesting one when booking.
As you might expect, seafood is the specialty here, but other choices are available. And since alcohol is served at Disneyland Paris, you can enjoy a nice glass of wine with your meal.

THE FOOD

There is an incredible choice of seafood dishes and unusual Caribbean themed food - don't look for the typical theme park fast food on this menu.
There are several choices - a la carte, set menus, children's menus and teenage menus.
During our visits we have sampled most of the menus, my favourite was when I chose the seafood platter where I was indulgent enough to sit with a huge platter of fantastic shellfish (langoustines, lobsters, mussels, oysters etc) on a mound of crushed ice - it was absolutely fantastic!!
Amongst some of the other foods we've had are flambéed ostrich steak, Caribbean chicken curry, Tahiti style shrimps, tuna and swordfish fricassee and some incredible puddings - the roast banana in rum is wonderful!!

One of the things that really impressed me was the 'chef's special' dessert on the children's menu. On one occasion this was a white chocolate jigsaw with food colouring 'paint' for the children to colour in, another occasion the child received various pieces of food (cake, biscuits, chocolate and mousse) that they made a boat with - my son loved these deserts.

Pictures are included including one of the finished boat!!

PRICES

I am a firm believer in the old adage 'you get what you pay for', the Blue Lagoon is not the cheapest place to eat in Disneyland - but it is one of the best!!
If you are staying in a Disneyland Hotel you can get a half board upgrade, for the Blue Lagoon you need the 'premier upgrade' this costs £36 adult - £13 child and entitles you to a 3-course set menu (lunch or dinner) including a choice of dishes, or a full buffet, plus a soft drink.
We always allow ourselves at least one 'good' meal out at Disneyland and I can certainly recommend the Blue Lagoon if you want to push the boat out!!!

CONCLUSION

If you are visiting Disneyland Resort Paris I would heartily recommend that you visit this restaurant, but you really must book (this can be done at the concierge desk at any of the Disneyland Hotels or at the restaurant itself) as it can be very difficult to get in and it does close early in the winter months.
The service has always been fantastic when we have used the restaurant and it really is an experience that you will always remember.

If you do go, enjoy and raise a glass to me.

Summary: Very popular restaurant partly located within the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction.

It's a long time since I went to Disneyland Paris, and this restaurant wasn't there at the time. I believe we dined at the Toy Story one! If I ever go again, I'll definitely give it a whirl. Is it all meaty/fishy or is there a vegetarian option? x
