Blue is a club on Corporation Street in Blackpool, easy to find, it's near The Grand Theatre. The prices to get in varies because they hold different types of night, such as Hip-Hop on Saturdays, House on Thursdays & Fridays, and it's even open the odd Sunday!! You can expect to pay anything from NOTHING-4.00 on Thursdays and about 8.00 on a Saturday.
The club is quite small, ... ...at a push. It's set on 2 levels with 2 bars, which brings me on to the down side.....the price of drinks. The prices, as with the admission fees tend to vary for some reason, expect to pay anything from 2.00 (reasonable) to 3.00 (rip off) for a Vodka Ice. Beers are along the same lines unfortunately, best to have a few before you go in!!
The layout of the club itself is quite nice, the dancefloor isn't too big so you don't need too ... more
Blackpool has suffered for a long time through a lack of good nightlife. Yes, I admit, if you are here on a stag/hen night and you are looking for tacky/cheesy pubs and clubs then you will be hard pressed to find a better town. The club is quite small, or intimate if you like, it holds about 300-350 people at a push. It's set on 2 levels with 2 bars, which brings me on to the down side.....the price of drinks. The prices, as with the admission fees tend to vary for some reason, expect to pay anything from 2.00 (reasonable) to 3.00 (rip off) for a Vodka Ice. The layout of the club itself is quite nice, the dancefloor isn't too big so you don't need too many people dancing to get rid of your inhibitions. The DJ box is 'boxed' off, but the DJ's are friendly and up for it and play to the crowd,
The toilets (a big consideration for the ladies!) aren't too bad, usually need a clean half way through the night, and there are only 3 cubicles. Obviously, I can't comment on the blokes toilets on the grounds that I may incriminate myself, but I would assume they are of the same standard.
There's a reliable cloakroom to use that costs about 50p, it well organised so you don't end up hanging around at the end of the night.
Personally, being a house music fan, I really enjoy Thursdays, regular DJ's are Pete Eardley and Martyn Simmons, they are fantastic!! They know what to play and when to play it, and best of all they do it for the enjoyment, nothing else!! I would definately reccommend a night when these boys are playing!!
Saturday nights cater for the Hip-Hop fan - with a little bit of house thrown in for good measure, these nights tend to get really busy so get there early.
As for getting home at the end of the night, there are 2 taxi ranks just around the corner so that's one thing you don't need to worry about.
If you are in Blackpool for the night and fancy something that doesn't involve silly wigs and hats and wasted tourists, give this a try!!
