Advantages: Great cast, lots of action, very realistic (blood, sharks, death, etc) Disadvantages: Weak story, not too many features
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water…….
Deep BlueSea comes back and hits you with another shark story. This time the sharks are getting smarter, and with no natural predators they are doing pretty well.
In a search to cure the disease of Alzheimer’s scientist have discovered a way to alter sharks brains, so they produce a protein that encourages brain neurons in humans to being functioning again. Unfortunate to make enough protein for humans, the sharks have grown in size (up to 18 foot), and as another side effect the sharks are getting smarter. The whole experiment is set in an abandoned second world war submarine refueling depot in the Pacific Ocean. When a tropical storm, combined with an accident to one of the members of the crew, a disaster results in the three test sharks escaping ...
Is this movie little more than Jaws brought up to date? Again it features what is probably the world?s most efficient biological killing machine and offers the expected ?don?t go into the water? type tension and again we have some pretty sub-standard acting and lots of blood in the water type gore. On an offshore research station scientists are working on a way to regenerate brain tissue in the hope of curing Alzheimer's disease. It would appear that the most natural hosts for this experimentation are sharks and it is these upon which they are experimenting. However there is a side effect to their work. The shark?s intelligence is dramatically increased by these ...
Advantages: Good twists in the story, A few comedy moments Disadvantages: Under Use of SLJ
I always seem to end up watching films when there on Sky that look a bit crap but more often and not they turn out to be a decent film. Well Deep BlueSea is one of those films. Probably part of the reason I ended up watching it was the fact Samuel L Jackson takes a staring role, and being a fan of most of his films, cause he has done some that are awful, I sat down to watch this.
So what’s it all about, well a team of scientists lead by Dr. Susan McCallister (Saffron Burrows) are conduction studies on Sharks on an observation platform in the middle of the Ocean. The aim of the research is to try and find a cure for Alzheimer’s and to do this they have enlarged the size of the Shark’s brain.
Now Russell Franklin (Samuel L Jackson), a millionaire funding the project has decided to fly in for the weekend ...
