Well this is a review of my holiday to Gran Canaria and boy did i love it!

The glorious Blue Star hotel is located at the tops of hills in the Puerto rico resort. Has magnificent views accross the entire resort, being able to see the lit up beaches and city centre of this fantastic resort. Taxis are easily able to get to and from this hotel to virtually anywhere throughout the resort, although if you want to go somewhere else such as the capital, Las Palmas, you should really find a taxi from the city centre. Has a "Europa Centre" located just a 5 minute walk away from the hotel, filled with endless restaraunts, bars, and few shops. Whilst down in the city centre, which is simply a 10 minute taxi
drive away is absolutely massive, filled with endless market stalls, clubs, restaurants, shops etc... And we can't forget that the majority of beaches are located nearby......
La playa de los Amadores - A 15 minute walk away from the hotel or a 5 minute taxi drive down to the local beach. Warm sand on your feet along with the gentle tannning heat from the sun. It was fab-tastic. With full access to the clear and tranquil Meditaranean waters, and your free to do swimming, skuba diving, jet ski-ing and lots of other water sports.
Anfi beach - More for the posh people as access to it comes with being in the 4/5 * hotel Anfi. Although access by the rest of the public is occasional. And it's definately worth a go seen as though all the sand has been imported from Barbados.

The rooms were actually quite good considering it is approxiamtely a 2 star / 3 star hotel. Standard rooms come with a small lounge with sofas and television powered by coins, a table and telephone along with a safe to keep any important belongings. It has a small open kitchen connected to the lounge space, with sink, cooker, fridge and freezer along with cupboards containing necessary cups and pans and cutlery. Thereafter is the toilet - an average sized toilet with a multipurpose bath and shower, and it's a pressure shower so its great for a simple water body massage.
Next up are the rooms... Consists of 2 single beds in the same room, along with a large wardrobe with extra quilts and bed sheets except really not necessary considering how hot it is in Gran Canaria - even above 15 and 20 degrees at night time.
To get to each room you have to make your way down using a lift which can take a while at the time but the rooms are all in open area and there is no actual building. So when you walk out of your room, you basically walk out into your mini garden- mainly patio but you have magnificent views of the resort.
Last but not least, you do get your room cleaned every 2 to 3 days.
-no entertainment although you can sneak in the hotel nextdoor - ALTAMAR and nobody notices and the entertainment is pretty good
-Good kind receptionist for a change
- a Safe- in your room only accessable by you alone
-taxis are always available outside the hotel for instant access anywhere you want to go

I thought the quality of service was pretty good considering as soon as i stepped into my room, the lights didn't work, and the receptionist sent some help really quick and it was fixed in almost no time at all. The hotel actually organises all or most of your events right at the begining of your holiday which is convenient because you can book all sorts of things such as camel riding, water sports, jeep safaris, and much more..

Watch out for cockroaches everywhere. .... Out on the patio, in the streets, in the room but worst of all in my experience, in the toilet........quite disastrous as i was sat on the loo and one kept getting closer and closer to me. And remeber not to kill them because they instantly lasy more eggs........
I would personally go back there again even though it wasn't best of hotels, it certainly was a magnificent resort. And the fact that the hotel was not very good, it made me get out of the hotel more and appreciate the attractions and experience of Gran canaria. My holiday was unbelievable and was a breathtaking experience. I reccomend this hotel or if not to your preference, i still reccommend visiting Gran canaria.........You'll regret it otherwise!
