Flamboyant Nassau - Bahamas

Advantages: Paradise Island
Disadvantages: Staying Too Long

. Christmas, sun, sea and sand! Rainy season between June and November; hurricanes usually bypass the Bahamas. The sea is turquoise/blue, the visibility is over 200 feet and water is warm. The sand is white and in some places pink. It is idyllic for holiday makers 90% of them are Americans. If you go to the beach early enough you will be able to collect the most marvellous seashells you have ever seen. The island is covered with magnificent flowering trees like the flamboyant with big scarlet flowers like the Poinsettias and the Jacarandas with blue flowers. Seawater being so transparent you can admire all sorts of beautiful colourful fish as well as crustaceans. But also dangerous varieties like barracudas, sharks, piranhas and rays. It is wise to stay on guarded beaches - in fact where all the Americans go. I have nothing against Americans but I ...

Derby resort for true blue Aussies

Advantages: Quite pleasant dining, close to centre of town, nice pool
Disadvantages: Gloomy brick walls, plus rather fortified

journey. But a repaint with brighter colours would cheer the whole place up particularly with regard to the brickwork. Facilities Having said this, the hotel offers reasonably good facilities and consists of a central courtyard surrounded by two floors of guest rooms. The courtyard area is probably the most attractive part of King Sound resort. There is an inviting looking pool, and an area where you can relax and recuperate. My room As regards my room itself, I was led down a dark brickwork corridor by the porter, , and then gained access to my accommodation. Well at least it was brighter than the corridor. If blue is a favourite colour of yours , then this is the place to come. I gradually got used to the blue decor and I noted the fact that the beds (one single, one double) were decked out in matching blue spreads ...

Dirty old Nassau

Advantages: Cheap booze and jewelery
Disadvantages: Dirty, polluted, old, pushy merchants

The name Nassau conjures up images of swaying palms, white sand, a gentle surf and a light sweet breeze. Maybe it was once like that. Today though, the reality is more like crumbling concrete, loud cars, rude panhandlers, and the sweet smell of carbon monoxide. Admittedly, it isn't all like that. Paradise Island, and Cable Beach are both attractive resort areas kept in a fairly natural state. Actually, Paradise Island's Atlantis Resort is stunning - an oasis in the cold reality of modern Nassau. Why do people keep coming to the town? Mostly it's on cruise ships. The port is very large, and right at the centre of town, allowing many ships of any size to dock directly without tendering. This is a big advantage over most small ports, and Nassaua is also much cheaper to dock at for most ships. This leads to a daily influx ...
