As Christmas creeps (or gallops) up on us once again I find myself looking for a loan to pay off my credit cards...The reason for this? I hear you ask. I've just been Christmas shopping at Bluewater in Greenhithe! Opened in March 1999 on the site of the old quarries in Greenhithe, Kent. This is my local shopping centre although I only go there when I'm not looking for food, although there are plenty of places there to eat the only one place to buy groceries is Marks and Spencer. There is an abundance of clothing shops, homeware shops like habitat and blue tomato, electrical shops include dixons and sony, jewellers, and there are three department stores House of Frazer, John Lewis and Marks and Spencer. I managed to buy all of my prezzies under one roof but to the expense of melting my credit cards. Everything seemed so expensive although I did get the odd bargain I spent much more than I had planned to. The creche is also good for the kids if you can find it which we did eventually. There is also a free outdoor playground for them in the Wintergarden area. Although I gripe about prices I suppose they are the same wherever you go and the benefits of Bluewater outweigh the downfalls. Bluewater is extremely wheelchair friendly which is good news for disabled customers and there are plenty of lifts for those too tired to take the stairs. The on site hosts all seem very friendly and eager to assist with any question that you may ask. The site also boasts a really good cinema which is handy for dumping the hubby and kids while you shop in peace and quiet and there are a couple of bars for that apres spending experience...You know the feeling you get when you realise just how much you've spent and need a double brandys to recover!! On the downfall side the car parks all look similar and it is easy to lose your car. The prices are high as I've said before but this is outweighed by the fact you don't have to trek up and down a cold, windy high street. The amount of people at Bluewater at any one time far exceeds what one would expect.

I am currently working on a project for the BBC and am looking to speak to people that use and love Bluewater.
If you think that you fit the bill, please email me at jennifer.forde@bbc.co.uk
I look forward to hearing from you,
Best wishes,
Jennifer.
