Grand Hyatt Mumbai
Advantages: Facilities, Cleanliness, Excellent Staff, Great food Disadvantages: Extremely expensive for India's prices, Very Slow Broadband
I stayed in the Grand Hyatt for 12 wks. I must admit when I landed in Mumbai I was surprised of how close this hotel is to the airport...15mins. There is 2 Hyatts in Mumbai, one is called the Grand Hyatt, the other just the Hyatt. Ok first of all when I seen the outside of this Hotel I was well impressed, although I was a little worried about the security..first of all when we drove in the underneath of the car was checked...then as we drove to the ... ...65 R's - in the Hyatt a bottle of Fosters was 450R's...!!!! Massive price to pay in India..also I had a chat with one of the guys there who told me he gets 8000R's a month for his wages....60hrs a week..when my company was paying 25,000R's per night to stay there....(Around £250.00 per night)
Typical Prices in the Hyatt for eating dinner, drinks etc..
A 3 course meal would cost around £45.00 not including drinks....1 Beer (Bottle, cuz they dont ...

GREAT HOTEL
Advantages: Close to beach and great rooms Disadvantages: none
This hotel is simply superb and is good value for money. I have stayed there a number of times since 2004 and the place oozes charm. There is a lovely bar there with very cozy arm chairs and attentive staff .Drinks and cocktails are well presented in very nice glassware and very generous serves especially the spirits which my husband appreciated and were also nice and cold which is quite often not the case in India .Crisps and other little nibbles ... ...Service is spot on and the prices are competive. Our room was sea facing double on both occassions, and very reasonable priced for a 4 star hotel. The amenties in the room were of a high standard, nice curtains and lovely crisp linen on the bed The room was tastfully decorated with a comfortable large size double bed. The service and cleanliness was above standard and nothing seemed to much trouble. The restaurant had a good selection of food and ...

Nice bathroom, sorry about the basin...
Advantages: Nicely designed rooms and bath rooms, stylish, comfortable Disadvantages: Careless Housekeeping
...saw a chap holding a Hyatt sign in the arrivals area. He had a list of people booked in that day, my name was on the list, so he was ready to take me to the hotel. I was ready not to argue. I was disappointed that I had to leave the gorgeous airline rep behind, though. As the taxi pulled into the hotel, though, he handed me a slip of paper to sign. Oh. I checked to make sure it didn't say anything like "I promise to give you a Ferrari" or "IOU A ... ...if blank, so I signed it, making a mental note to keep an extra eye on my firstborn, not having either of the other two. LOBBY AND RECEPTION
My first impression arriving was that the lobby was dark; had they forgotten to turn the lights on? Had they run out of five rupee coins for the meter? Then I realised that it was deliberate! The lobby was grey marble walls, with some large, round, grey columns, interspersed with lots of layered glass walls ...

The Taj Mumbai (completely rewritten)
Advantages: One of the world's most famous hotels Disadvantages: Pay the extra for the heritage rooms - the tower is poor
...Ciao, I wrote about the Taj Mahal Palace and Towers and to this day it remains my worst rated review of all time. Like many newbies I hadn't a clue what I was doing and the ratings reflected that. I have left most of my dreadful newbie reviews unchanged - to remind me that we all have to learn - but after the recent events in Mumbai, I can't leave this one unaltered any more. So please, ignore the existing ratings and give it a read.
Introduction ... ...Mumbai at the Oberoi and Taj hotels. I have clear pictures in my mind of every part of the Taj Mahal Palace and Towers because I stayed there twice almost four years ago. When an eyewitness talks about being in the restaurant, I know where he means. When another tells of taking a lift to the lobby and finding armed men shooting, I know the layout and can imagine the scene looking out from the lift. In terms of being able to guide people considering ...

Taj Mahal Palace & Towers
Advantages: Good location, beautiful building and cosy rooms Disadvantages: Very expensive!
I stayed here recently and felt that it was the perfect end to a great but exhausting trip around India. I booked into the Tower but was upgraded to the Tiger Club in the Palace which was a nice treat. The Palace is stunning and you should just look up the staircase, even if you can't afford to stay there. The restaurants are heavenly, we went all out and ate at Zodiac Grill, it claims to be India's top restaurant and we concurred! The 'snake coffee' ... ...coffee tasted delicious. The rooms are cosy, remembering that this is a 100 year old building, the architecture and service make up for the room which I felt was on the smallish side. The bathroom is small with a shower-over-bath which I'm not very fond of, but the shower was excellent nonetheless. The swimming pool is a nice retreat from Mumbai's hectic streets.
I'd recommend this hotel as a one-off experience to anyone, not ideally located for ...
