Upon arrival you first notice that this hotel is a pretty ordinary looking building on the corner. The porters are very quick in assisting you with your luggage and are very efficient in getting them to your room. The reception area is relatively small but the staff were very quick at checking us in and getting us our room.
In total there are around 14 floors, and three lifts that can be used to get to them. There are also stairs if you prefer to walk.
We were slightly worried about how the room would be as there were three of us sharing, and therefore we expected to be given a fold away extra bed. Therefore we were happy to find that each room consists of one double bed and two singles (which would be great for families). The rooms are pretty big in size with all the usual emenities you would expect - iron, telephone, coffee machine, air conditioning etc. The bathroom was a good size with the standard sink, toilet and shower/bath. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable.
Each day the cleaners would change the towels and tidy the room. They were very efficient and did a lot of little extras such as folding clothes and tidying items. They were also very friendly and patient with us no matter what time we came and left.
Downstairs, next to the reception is a small dining room in which you can buy breakfast, lunch or dinner for a reasonal price. They have quite a wide selection to choose from. Although we only ate breakfast there we found that we were served quickly and all the staff were very cheerful. For three of us a decent breakfast with drinks cost us around $28 (about £16).
There is a concierge desk in reception which is manned all throughout the day. As we had never been to Toronto before we had no idea what there was to do or where to visit to we popped down to ask for some information. The lady on the desk (Donna) was extremely helpful and spent a good hour helping us out. She even went to the trouble to get us tickets for local events. When, towards the end of the holiday, we decided to stay a few more days she arranged transport for us and changed all our flights. The reception was just as helpful in taking care or any problems.
There are payphones downstairs and also internet access, which is only $2 for 15 minutes. More time works out even cheaper per minute.
When you step out of the hotel you are literally in the centre. Two minutes walk to the left you are in Dundas square, which is the main shopping area. Many of the bus tours leave from here and the harbour, CN Tower and baseball stadium are only a 20 minute walk. There are close underground connections and taxis are pretty inexpensive. A taxi to the CN Tower costs around $8 (£5)
Directly outside the hotel is a Subway (sandwich shop) and there is a McDonalds and a Hardrock cafe within a minutes walk, so there are plenty of choices when it comes to eating.
The hotel itself varies quite a lot in price depending on the type of room you have and what time of year you go. Because we booked through a company i dont know the exact prices per night. However we did stay an extra four nights, which we payed extra for, and this came to a total of around £200 for three sharing an above standard room. We didnt notice too much of a difference compared to a standard rom, but the room was listed as a suite.
For a basic 3* hotel in a great location we found the hotel to be perfect for what we needed. As first time Toronto tourists we had everything within easy reach and the hotel was perfectly adequate. Highly recommended! xx
Advantages: Great location and room views Disadvantages: Lack of free internet access (if guest does not have a computer)
Myself and my family have traveled to Toronto twice in recent years and of the second times we decided to use this hotel. It is a mid-rise building located in the centre of downtown Toronto close to the Eaton Centre and Dundas Square.
The hotel's location really is its best feature - in my opinion you really couldn't be in a better position (most attractions such as the CN Tower are within walking distance). The room sizes are good with great views ... ...The hotel reception staff were helpful and the reception stays open late which is helpful (for example we arrived at the hotel late at night). The only major downside to the hotel was the lack of free internet access with a computer (i.e. if you do not have your own computer you will either have to use the hotel's pay-as-you-go service or go across the road to the excellent internet cafe which is very cheap - around $5-10 per hour).
Overall a great ...

I first visited Toronto in 1998 on my honeymoon and fell in love with the city. We stayed at the BondPlaceHotel on Dundas which we found to be clean, friendly and central. It is two minutes walk from the Eaton Centre - a shopper's paradise. There you can browse in Eaton's department store, shop till you drop in chain stores, craft shops and fancy goods stalls. The food hall is excellent for variety and value with foods from all over the world at excellent prices - Brits will be surprised at how cheap it is to eat in Toronto.
One of our favourite eateries was The Mandarin Chinese Buffet Restaurant on Younge and Eglinton's Canada Square Complex (take the underground to Eglinton and it is just outside the station). This is the most amazing buffet I have ever been to with a huge selection of chinese and world foods. Choose from ...
