Legend has it that many years ago a woman was dining on the first floor and could'nt pay her bill. She negated this minor oversite by leaping out the window and disapearing in to the crowds. During a particularly rowdy session of Mateus drinking, a friend of mine, an ex parachute regiment squaddy, got up and without a word simply leapt out of the window. Unfortunately the management did'nt see the funny side and we still had a bill to pay. The beauty of this place though is that the prices are so cheap. A good meal can be had for as little as £5.00 per person and its a great place to meet the real Lisboans.
A word of warning though. The hot pepper sauce they provide with the meal is HOT. Go easy at first as it has more lag than a Renualt 5 turbo. Otherwise enjoy.
