STOP......Maastricht ahead.

Advantages: Beautiful city, everything at walking distance
Disadvantages: maybe the weather??

, during a siege, the enemy was regularly given a boiling water or molten metal bath. When it's raining you can visit the Bonnefanten Museum where you can learn more about local history. Hungry???? No problem. There are plenty of good restaurants. From the simple French fries from the snack bar to the exquisite French cuisine at Beluga or Toine Hermsen both awarded with a Michelin star. And of course plenty of choice in between. Average price for a three course menu is 17 GBP. "De Roeie Knien" will serve you very tasty local food for even less than that. And an extremely good couscous can be found at Hassans restaurant "Djerba" next to the marketplace. A very small, simple restaurant but really a heavenly great couscous for a small price. Thirsty???? Even less of a problem since there are even more bars than restaurants in the city. Try ...

My Kinda town - Maastricht is

Advantages: Small, friendly, very pretty
Disadvantages: Not easiest desination to get to from the UK

Most people in the UK have only heard of Maastricht in connection with the EC treaty, they couldn't tell you what it's about, nor could they tell you even which country it's in! The city is tucked in the bottom left hand corner of the Netherlands, and surrounded on three sides by Belgium and Germany. It's also very close to France and Luxembourg is only a short car journey away. Don't make the mistake of thinking it's in Holland - that's in the north of the Netherlands, it's the capital of Limburg provence. I attended a business conference in the beginning of March 2003, and quite by accident managed to land in town at exactly the same time as 'carnival' - which they take very seriously - more about this later. The old town is about one kilometre square, and is a maze of narrow pedestrianised streets there's a bunch of old ...

Night at the Museum

Advantages: Great comedy and pure entertainment
Disadvantages: a little slow to begin.. but not for long though.

Stars: Ben Stiller, Carla Gugino, Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs, Jake Cherry, Charlie MurphyRami Malek, Pierfrancesco Favino,Ricky Gervais, Patrick Gallagher, Robin Williams and Kim Raver Released in Late 2006 this comedy, (I believe is based on a 1993 novel by Milan Trenc), revolved around a Museum and its mystical effects on a night watchman. **BRIEF PLOT** In New York city's Museum of Natural History Lawrence 'Larry' Daley, (played by Ben Stiller) begins a job as a night watchman, mainly to gain the respect of his son Nick, (played by Jake Cherry). Larry has had many dead end jobs in the passed, failing at all he tries, and is so terrified that Nick will prefer spending time with his ...
