Advantages: Ski to your door, huge number of runs, great off piste, nice bars, crazy dutch party bar! Disadvantages: No great clubs, you have to leave to come home!
...I made the visit to Tignes Val claret last year (2006) and was lucky enough to be staying with friends who owned 2 apartments there so didn't have the cost of accommodation to worry about so sorry can't comment on that. I paid 30pounds each way for flight from Liverpool to Geneva and then had a bus into Tignes from there. I arrived about 4PM so quickly dropped my things off at the apartment and sorted my lift pass and rented skis etc for the week that I would be there ready for the next day!
The lift pass was great value as for the week I paid just over 100pounds though I am informed that this has increased in price this year as you would imagine. For this though you are able to ski across the 3 valleys of Tignes, le lac and Val D'isere. That is a massive amount of top quality pistes and just as much off piste skiing. I spent...

Advantages: Off piste skiing is vast Disadvantages: resort can be a bit quiet (could be a good thing!!)
...and dancing on tables for the more adventurous! They also have a different theme every night of the week with drink promotions and costume nights. Internet is also valuable. The bar staff are very friendly and accommodating, with over 30 types of flavoured you wont leave in a good state!

Advantages: great snow, good for beginners to experts, plenty of snow, small compact town with a free bus fare to another 2 towns that are very nice and close Disadvantages: none what so ever unless you going skiing mid summer time and your find no snow
...My sister was working out there for a few months so my family and i went and stayed there back in March, for 4 times.
It was a very cold time of year but was gaurrented lots of snow.
We stayed in a hotel called la torre which was about 1 minute walk from the main gondola which took you up to the top of the mountain.
In the town there is a free bus that goes from tignes to val cloreh.
In tignes there are some small bars and resturants, lots of hotels and very close to the main ski slopes, easy access around the town.
And val cloreh is a bigger town with a large number of resturants, such as tex mex, curry houses, pizzas, anything that you could imagine is there. There are also clubs and bars which are lively and open most of the night.
Both towns have a wide range of shops, selling anything from clothes to skiis and snowboard...
