...Innocenti, one can admire the S.Orsola stories set of frescoes by Tomaso da Modena, one of the leading painters of the 14th century, who left vast testimonies of his work here in Treviso in the second half of the century.
From S.Caterina you can reach, along pretty alleys, the S.Maria Maggiore church with its harmonious façade, and from here walk to Ponte Dante, Dante's bridge, ('where the Sile accompanies the Cagnan', according to the famous verse from the Divina Commedia).Take then the road to the Ospedale Vecchio and Piazza S. Leonardo, and before going back to Piazza dei Signori, stop at the Loggia dei Cavalieri, the oldest civilian building in town.
Another itinerary leads to Calmaggiore (most likely the ancient Roman cardum), the town's high street, which is flanke by many of the gentry's palaces.
You will then get to Piazza Duomo...

Advantages: Funky Theme, really nice room, Central Location Disadvantages: Small pool/ gym area
...We booked Hotel Boscolo online through Expedia.com and got a really good last minute deal. We drove there- it was quite difficult to find down a small street and we had to pay for valet parking as you may expect in central Rome but the concierge were really friendly and helpful as were the reception staff- we booked a double room but were upgraded as they had space which was a nice touch.
Our room was stunning and decorated in a totally unique and really funky way- it was small but had everything we needed. The bathroom was mosaic and had a deep sunken jacuzzi bath and speakers so you could listen to music or the TV from the other room. The toiletries and things provided were really nice and you definately felt like you were staying in a posh boutique hotel!
For excellent pictures and more details I would recommend their website...

Advantages: 30 Kms from Venice, 50 Kms from the Alps Disadvantages: Buses stop at around 9pm.....
...Only after leaving Treviso to settle in England, did I start deepening my understanding of the history, culture and people of the area.
I re-visited my home town with open eyes. A quite important market town, its wealth was built on the water that flows even today through a network of waterways and canals, which have filled to become un-navigable with the construction of the electrical generator works near Largo Altinia and the coach and railway stations.
Since leaving it I have grown to appreciate what a truly useful location it commands. So near to both the sea and the Venitian lagoon to the south and the Alps to its north and east, it is a perfect base to explore north eastern Italy from.
Like so many italian cities Treviso has pre-roman origins. The local Museo Bailo has a permanent show of artifacts found in and around...
