Disadvantages: Drive into Boston a nightmare

Boston is a great city but Logan Airport is a still security disaster even after the events of 9/11 (9th Sept in UK speak). We flew into Logan from Toronto and a week later out again on 11/04 back to Toronto. Agreed there were National Guard and US Marshalls at the checkout but the security staff (mostly coloured and with very poor English and obviously neither very motivated or trained properly) simply were not upto the job - we didn't see even ...
...is on an island in Boston Harbour and if you really want to get paranoid just look out over the runway to the many small boats and ask yourself why the airport doesnt have either a perimeter fence or as far as we could see any perimeter patrols? Advantages: walk & see most important historical sites in Boston
Disadvantages: a lot of history, a lot of walking

...harbour. One place the Freedom Trail does not come across is the 'Boston Tea Party Ship and Museum'. This attraction is separate from the trail and currently undergoing restoration and not open to the pubic. But nothing will stop you from taking a detour and popping in to see the ship and museum (once it's open for visitors again). Next time I'm in Boston I know I will have another look and visit certain sites in more detail. There's only so much ...
...everything in and I find it is best to tackle the trail in stages or go back to places you have already been. I like historical graveyards so I will make another bee line to the ones along the trail to study in more depth. Highly recommended if you don't have much time and want to see as much of Boston's and America's early history in the shortest of time. But don't forget, there's much more to Boston than its history. Advantages: Informative and entertaining guides, an excellent way to get a glimpse of Boston
Disadvantages: You may get wet!

Boston is known as the gateway to New England, and we were acutely aware that despite having flown there twice previously, our knowledge of the city was limited to the network of roads and tunnels which lead out of Logan Airport and into the outer reaches of Massachusetts and beyond.This time, finding ourselves with half a day to spare before driving northwards to Maine, we decided to do our best to see as much as we could in the short space of time ...

Advantages: Excellent fun, informative and interesting
Disadvantages: Wrap up warm if the weather's cold

...and I went stopped in Boston for a couple of days as part of our honeymoon last year. We didn't have a chance to see as much of this beautiful city as we'd have liked, but we were really glad we took the Duck Tour. The amphibious landing craft picks you up from outside the shopping centre, and takes you round the city before plunging into the river. At first the place seemed incredibly eerie, there were very few fellow passengers and plenty of air marshalls, police and security workers.
