Wyndham Hotel Boston

Advantages: Good location and value
Disadvantages: Some things to be improved!

Wyndham Boston Room rates: We visited the Wyndham Boston in September 2005 and booked via the Wyndham's own website which not only guarantees the best rates (and this is true as I did a LOT of checking!) it also entitles you to membership of Wyndham By Request whereby you specify your room type preferences such as bedding and also a free welcome drink and snack upon arrival; a nice touch! We were also contacted on two occasions by our Wyndham Request ...
...stay. We paid approx $160 for a twin room including breakfast. If you can be flexible over dates then you can get some great deals on room rates with some rooms only rates being available from $120 +. Check in and the room: We arrived at about 1pm after a long flight and had to wait about an hour for our room but by the time we had grabbed a quick bite of lunch the room was ready. Never having stayed in a Wyndham property I was pleasantly surprised ...

A five-star front desk at a Marriott in Boston

Advantages: Extremely efficient front desk, ideal location for power shopping and sightseeing
Disadvantages: No ghosts, a/c leaked, staying at Marriott can lead to telephone solicitation later

...the Hynes Convention Center in Boston in September 2004. Earlier in the year, our convention committee presented a choice of two hotels, Sheraton Boston and Marriott Copley Place. Before booking, I dashed an email off to the concom, asking whether either of them was haunted. I hit the jackpot at the Royal York in Toronto the previous year, maybe I would this one as well. I was told neither had ghosts. It was discouraging, but when attending a Worldcon, ...
...Many hotels in central Boston usually ask $300-400. Regardless, I wanted to keep my expenses down. In true fannish style, I looked for roommates to split the costs and found a couple, Sionna and Rebecca. Only one was staying for the entire six nights, but such is life in the spec-fi convention world. In order to save us some grief, I asked the Marriott to set up separate accounts for each of us. This allowed us to all check in when we arrived, have ...

Good value, great location

Advantages: Nice standard, more character than many of the other Back Bay hotels
Disadvantages: Small, slightly tired bathrooms

...to Boston before I know the location and therefore knew that it was a good one. It is less tha 1 block to Copley on the T and not too much further to Back Bay on the Orange line. From here it's pretty easy to get around the city. Although, saying that, we did do a fair amount of walking too as it's a very accessible city in that respect. We had a corner room with 4 double beds, lots of space in the room with all the usual facilities and a large plasma ...
...the bathrooms which were fairly small and not too much places to put all your bits. Also, the closet we had was small but I would imagine that this varies by room as it's an old building. Turndown each night was nice, although really we didn't it too much. Didn't eat in any of the resturants and bars on site - however, looked busy at all times. Irish bar on site seemed to be popular with the locals and by staying at the hotel you get quite entry ...

Boston Hilton

Advantages: Comfortable, clean, good location
Disadvantages: Prices during the week

...on Expedia and found a Hilton for less money I couldn’t believe my luck! LOCATION: This Hilton is located in Boston’s Financial District. It is at 89 Broad Street. Despite it being in the Financial District we found it very easy to walk from the hotel to the main tourist sites of the city. Quincy Market and the Old State House were only 10 minutes walk away. PRICES: The price of this particular hotel seems to vary a lot depending on when you stay ...
...Ok so because it’s a Hilton it’s a bit corporate and there’s nothing really to separate it from any other big chain. A guesthouse would have been more interesting to stay in but it would have been further out of the centre and would actually have been more expensive. If you are staying in Boston on a Friday or Saturday night and can pick this hotel up for a cheap price then it’s definitely worth it. A little bit of luxury never hurt anyone, right?! ...

Back to Earth with a BUMP

Advantages: Location, large room
Disadvantages: Appalling customer service, tiny bathroom, uncomfortable bed, DANGEROUS balcony

...opt for on holiday. The Radisson was rated as a 3 ½ star on Expedia, it had a good feedback rating from past clients both on expedia and on "www.tripadvisor.com", the rate was $192 (£100 approx) a night and so I went ahead and booked. Location and arrival Boston is a small city and one would have to be quite unlucky to find oneself in a hotel in an inconvenient location for this reason. So, we were perfectly happy with the central location ...
...planning to stay in a Radisson I would recommend asking for a regular bed if they still do them. The bathroom was beautifully and newly done. The walls were white "brick style" tiles which I thought were very attractive with the chrome fittings, including one of those oversize shower heads. It was a tiny space though, I could easily touch opposite walls simultaneously without even stretching and the door opening / closing just about cleared the ...
