Christmas In Boston, Stay Here Advantages: Location and Price are very good Disadvantages: Not much I could find ...at in Boston, The Boston Park Plaza. ++++++++++Booking++++++++++ I booked our stay through Expedia www.expedia.co.uk and was paid upfront, I managed to get the hotel for an average rate of £50.10 per night for the three nights, on top of the room rate there is also the dreaded tax which was £7.87 per night. The hotel is located on the junction of Arlington and St James Ave, there is a very large multi-storey car park or garage as the Americans like to call them across the street. Boston Tea Party Advantages: 'European' sized rooms can be a bargain Disadvantages: Easy to fall into the trap of putting expensive drinks on the bill! ...it shows. The Omni Parker Hotel opened in 1855 and is situated right on the Freedom Trail - you couldn't ask for a more perfect setting to explore Boston. For America, this hotel is really old, and was the location for the famous 'Boston Tea Party'. For Europeans a 110 year old hotel is somewhat less amazing! Some of the rooms are named after famous literary figures who have stayed there: Ralph Waldo Emerson & Louisa May Alcott. John F Kennedy proposed ... ...expensive dining costs in the Omni Parker. If you can't do without your gym and if there's not enough walking for you, the hotel has its own gym. I couldn't tell you what its like though! Back to Earth with a BUMP Advantages: Location, large room Disadvantages: Appalling customer service, tiny bathroom, uncomfortable bed, DANGEROUS balcony ...opt for on holiday. The Radisson was rated as a 3 ½ star on Expedia, it had a good feedback rating from past clients both on expedia and on "www.tripadvisor.com", the rate was $192 (£100 approx) a night and so I went ahead and booked. Location and arrival Boston is a small city and one would have to be quite unlucky to find oneself in a hotel in an inconvenient location for this reason. So, we were perfectly happy with the central location ... ...planning to stay in a Radisson I would recommend asking for a regular bed if they still do them. The bathroom was beautifully and newly done. The walls were white "brick style" tiles which I thought were very attractive with the chrome fittings, including one of those oversize shower heads. It was a tiny space though, I could easily touch opposite walls simultaneously without even stretching and the door opening / closing just about cleared the ... Away from the tourists! Advantages: Cheap, away from downtown Disadvantages: Away from downtown! area around hotel does not offer much What can you say about this hotel? The easiest thing to say is that I spent 6 nights here and didnt have too many problems. Now lets get to real important bits: Well firstly getting to the hotel from the airport is relatively easy, just wait for the provided shuttle service and they will take you there! Or if you are wanting to be adventourous there is always the Boston T (boston subway) The hotel itself is of mid size and located a few miles ... ...is not much. It has a laundrette, which again is no frills (you have to pay for the machines). Breakfast is pretty basic but adequate (includes bagels, toast, cereal etc). The rooms are of a nice nice with ample room to feel comfortable. \the showers are great! The room has the usual TV set, Iron and Ironing board. It is cleaned once a day by friendly and helpful staff. I never eat at the hotels restraunt, so cant comment on the food but looking ... Wyndham Hotel Boston Advantages: Good location and value Disadvantages: Some things to be improved! Wyndham Boston Room rates: We visited the Wyndham Boston in September 2005 and booked via the Wyndham's own website which not only guarantees the best rates (and this is true as I did a LOT of checking!) it also entitles you to membership of Wyndham By Request whereby you specify your room type preferences such as bedding and also a free welcome drink and snack upon arrival; a nice touch! We were also contacted on two occasions by our Wyndham Request ... ...stay. We paid approx $160 for a twin room including breakfast. If you can be flexible over dates then you can get some great deals on room rates with some rooms only rates being available from $120 +. Check in and the room: We arrived at about 1pm after a long flight and had to wait about an hour for our room but by the time we had grabbed a quick bite of lunch the room was ready.
