Boston Hilton
Advantages: Comfortable, clean, good location Disadvantages: Prices during the week
...on Expedia and found a Hilton for less money I couldn’t believe my luck!
LOCATION:
This Hilton is located in Boston’s Financial District. It is at 89 Broad Street. Despite it being in the Financial District we found it very easy to walk from the hotel to the main tourist sites of the city. Quincy Market and the Old State House were only 10 minutes walk away. PRICES: The price of this particular hotel seems to vary a lot depending on when you stay ... ...Ok so because it’s a Hilton it’s a bit corporate and there’s nothing really to separate it from any other big chain. A guesthouse would have been more interesting to stay in but it would have been further out of the centre and would actually have been more expensive. If you are staying in Boston on a Friday or Saturday night and can pick this hotel up for a cheap price then it’s definitely worth it. A little bit of luxury never hurt anyone, right?! ...

Doubletree Downtown Hotel, Washington St, Boston
Advantages: Clean, comfirtable, close to theatres/restaurants/Boston Common/Subway station Disadvantages: Nearby local hospital with busy ER department
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in early September. the hotel itself appears quite new, and so all the usual facilities you would expect and want at a standard modern hotel are there. .
Staff on arrival were very friendly and helpful, both with quickly processing our reservation, and providing advice about local facilities. Within 5 minutes walk of the hotel there are numerous restaurants/bars ranging from American, Thai, Chinese, ... ...(McDonalds, Subway etc etc). Just make sure when you leave the hotel you get your beraings right and turn left towards the main part of town. If you go right you fairly quickly get to some rather 'quiet' and lonely parts of the city, especially on an evening!
The hotel also has it's own restaurant just off the lobby area. The hotel aslo had access to a pool and gym/leisure facilities, but we didn't try them so I can't comment on them.
Boston Common ...

If you are having a fly drive holiday........
Advantages: Location, good rooms, friendly service, good food Disadvantages: Restaurant looks lost in the lobby
If you intend to have a fly/drive holiday around New England & fly into Logan Airport in Boston, consider this hotel. Hiring a car from downtown Boston can be a nightmare as navigating out of large city like this as a total stranger is likely to send your blood pressure levels into orbit! I chose this hotel as it is located between the airport a large rental car facility, it means that once you pick up your car you drive onto the highway & north ... ...about.
Although the hotel is close to the airport it is still too far away to walk there with luggage on a hit summer's day. The taxi drivers don't like the short run from the airport as they only make a couple of dollars but that's not your problem.
I found the hotel comfortable, clean & the staff were friendly & efficient, there is a restaurant on the ground floor which looks likes its part of the lobby. Nevertheless, food was tasty & service ...

Boston City and not yet broke
Advantages: Central, friendly, affordable, online Disadvantages: Rather basic in most respects
I was staying at the Shawmutt Inn last week. It has friendly personnel, clean rooms and a really central location (10 minutes walk to the city centre, T-line station across the street) at affordable rates. The rooms (at least my room) include a basic kitchen with fridge, sink, microwave, coffee maker and a small selection of coffees.
It is not incredibly luxurious, my room had tiny windows near the ceiling, but a/c (also on leaving and checking ... ...The hotel itself is of course in a rather run-down section of the city (nothing to feel afraid off, just a few bars and buildings not painted for a long time).
The included breakfast is basic but nice with fresh Bagels, cornflakes, tea, coffee (on paper cups and plates, plastic cutlery).
Not to forget there is an Internet station to use (and even better and more important) free Wi-Fi in the rooms.
I would recommend this to people looking for an ...

Back to Earth with a BUMP
Advantages: Location, large room Disadvantages: Appalling customer service, tiny bathroom, uncomfortable bed, DANGEROUS balcony
...opt for on holiday. The Radisson was rated as a 3 ½ star on Expedia, it had a good feedback rating from past clients both on expedia and on "www.tripadvisor.com", the rate was $192 (£100 approx) a night and so I went ahead and booked.
Location and arrival
Boston is a small city and one would have to be quite unlucky to find oneself in a hotel in an inconvenient location for this reason. So, we were perfectly happy with the central location ... ...planning to stay in a Radisson I would recommend asking for a regular bed if they still do them.
The bathroom was beautifully and newly done. The walls were white "brick style" tiles which I thought were very attractive with the chrome fittings, including one of those oversize shower heads. It was a tiny space though, I could easily touch opposite walls simultaneously without even stretching and the door opening / closing just about cleared the ...
