Sorry Boston.

Boston in October, when the sun is shining, the Redsox are playing well, the leaves are just doing their New England Fall Color thing...what a treat!
Getting paid to be there...what a total delight!
Look, this isn’t getting us down to the nitty-gritty of what Boston is like for a visitor, this is just shilly-shallying around to garner a few laughs (Well OK...smiles then) while you try to get your thoughts in some semblance of ... ...and towns in the USA, Boston was built before cars were thought of, so no tidy ‘grid’ system of street layout applies, all go into the mix to make driving, or being driven, a frustrating and protracted affair.
So anyway...where was I?
Ah yes, walking back to Copley Place from Memorial Drive, on the other side of the river.
My route took me along the banks of the Charles River, and through a beautiful stretch of parkland through which half of Boston’s ...

Advantages: Excellent dollar rate, laid back city Disadvantages: Spent too much shopping and did not get to see the famous New England Fall trees!
...could have flown direct to Boston with the likes of British Airways or Virgin Atlantic – but we would not have gained air miles and membership miles (l know its sad!)
The overall flight took from 8.55am and we arrived into Boston around 2pm (-5 GMT). So it was just over 10 hours – a direct flight would take over 7 hours to get you into Boston.
We did loose our luggage between Washington and Boston – there was a very tight turn ... ...across the Charles River from Boston City itself – this was very easily accessible from the airport – the T (Boston metro system) took us from the airport changing once directly to the T stop, which happened to be about 2 minutes from the front door of our hotel.
We stated at the Harvard Square Hotel – a doubletree chain – nothing special but it was perfectly adequate – clean, normal sized, TV, fridge, hairdryer & tea ...

Advantages: It isn't TOO busy like New York, really easy to get around and no sales tax on clothes, clean and safe Disadvantages: Quite expensive
Boston is a city like no other – the only city I have been that combines the pleasantness of a European City with the delight of a US City. I spent three months there last summer and plan to go back as soon as I can. There is so much to do, so many places to see it would take a lifetime. In my opinion on Boston, I am only going to give some essential information about it and some of my favourite things about it, but it is still quite long. If you ... ...people will in arrive in Boston through Logan International Airport. There are a number of ways out of the airport to the city, but the cheapest is by using the MBTA transport system. The MBTA or “The T” as it is commonly known, is Boston’s (mainly) underground transport system. It is THE only way to travel around the city. It costs $1 for each ride on the T, but I would advise buying a visitors pass. Last summer, the price was $11 for three days ...

...Hotel in the downtown area. Boston is a City that one and a half million people call home, (the 10th largest in the USA).
~O WHAT I SAW O~
My half day meeting was at Cambridge University, (one of the 60 plus Colleges or Universities). I was the Executive Producer of a Documentary Film and I was talking to show it to the Dean of the Fine Arts Department before we "color corrected it". He met me at the Airport but had to wait a long time because ... ...first went to see the Boston Common which was the fist Park the City built, (my Guide told me that there are over 2,000 Parks today. This should tell you that this City is so green and pretty.
Next I saw the Museum of Science as was surpriser to find that the entrance was free. I wasn't interested in the Children's areas, (Dinosaurs and finding minerals), so we went to see the Natural Mysteries. We began our journey in a Theater where we saw a multimedia ...

Advantages: Lots to do, wonderfully friendly people. Disadvantages: Can be expensive in areas
I visited Boston some 3 years ago. I would describe it as one of the best trips I have ever experienced during my short 18 year life. I found it a place for all ages. You have many sports teams all whose stadiums are easily reachable, ideal for kids to experience. You then have a historic side to Boston which appeals to all ages. There are several museums full of history. The Boston Tea party figures heavily down at the docks. But there is also huge ... ...also found the inhabitants of Boston to be some of the nicest people I've met. Everyone had time for you and loved listening to where you had come from - not to mention the Scottish accent. I visited Boston in October - right in the middle of the fall. Some of the scenery away form the main centre was breathtaking. And the weather wasn't exactly freezing cold. There was a mild temperature - just pleasent enough to enjoy each day although rain did ...

...is to secure the facilities with an adequate block of hotel rooms for its members who are traveling from out of town. The 62nd installment of Worldcon (aka Noreascon 4) was held at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston in September 2004. Earlier in the year, our convention committee presented a choice of two hotels, Sheraton Boston and Marriott Copley Place. Before booking, I dashed an email off to the concom, asking whether either of them was haunted. I hit the jackpot at the Royal York in Toronto the previous year, maybe I would this one as well. I was told neither had ghosts. It was discouraging, but when attending a Worldcon, staying at one of its hotels is part of the atmosphere. By the time I acquired that info, the party hotel had been fully booked. I took a room at the Marriott. Big chains hotels usually bore me, but I have never...

...Last year for Christmas we decided to use the time off to do something a bit different. We ended up booking a holiday to the USA with two stops in New York and Boston. This review is of the hotel we stayed at in Boston, The Boston Park Plaza.
++++++++++Booking++++++++++
I booked our stay through Expedia www.expedia.co.uk and was paid upfront, I managed to get the hotel for an average rate of £50.10 per night for the three nights, on top of the room rate there is also the dreaded tax which was £7.87 per night. The hotel has it's own web site where you can make a booking and have a look at the facilities etc www.bostonparkplaza.com, although I would recommend going through a broker site as the rates will be a lot cheaper, due to them buying rooms in bulk.
++++++++++Location++++++++++
The park Plaza is located in the Back Bay...

...~~ The Boston Stump ~~
We were halfway through our holiday week and decided to take a wonder around Boston town and to visit the 14th century St Botolph's Parish Church the famous Boston Stump.
The parish church was first built in 1309 making it nearly 700yrs old, the work on the tower started a century later at around 1425-1430 and was not completed until 1510-1520, so you will notice a slight difference in the architectural design.
It is speculated that the name Boston Stump came about because it originally should have donned a spire, but instead it has a 'stump' appearance, but in fact where the name originated from no-one knows.
This is still a working church holding regular services, weddings, funerals, christenings etc. Talking of christening, the font is spectacular and was given to the church in 1853, it is decorated...
