Boston is one of those rare places which has the thriving feel of a modern, cosmopolitian city whilst still be able to retain its natural culture heritage. If you are looking to find the heart of American history then this is the place for you but if you are also looking for somewhere that can be enjoyed by the whole family then Boston also has something to offer.
A good way to get an overview of the city itself is to make use of the famous Duck Tours. This involves a fast-paced tour of the most important part of the city from both land and sea as the "Duck" that you will be travelling in has the ability to drive both on land and in the sea! This tour offers a light hearted guide to the city and it is one which adults and children can enjoy. It is a good idea to to this towards the start of your trip to allow you to make a plan of what you want to do for the rest of your stay. Thsi is an especially good idea if your stay in Boston is only a short one as it will allow you to see the majority of the main attractions in a short space of time. Please be aware that it is usually required that you book the tour prior to the day you actually want to go on these tours and it is advisable to go for a tour early in the day, when it will be far less busy.
Aside from the Duck Tours, Boston has alot to offer in terms of culture. During the summer (around independence day) the Harbourfest is held, which is much like other city festivals with market stalls, shows and street performances. This is a good time to visit the city as there is so much going on.
In terms of Hotels, I stayed at the Marlowe Hotel which is located in the district of Cambridge. This is a safe area which is popular with familys and many students also live in this area. Overall Cambridge is a nice place to stay as it offers wonderful views of the Boston skyline and the Charleston River, whilst being just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
There are many different things to see and do in Boston and I have outlined some of my favourite attractions below:
1). Duck Tours (see above) 2). A visit to Harvard University 3). A visit to the world famous Red Sox stadium, Fenway Park - Even if you have no interest in Baseball, The Red Sox are a major thing in Boston so it is worth a visit 4). The Freedom Trail - This is walk which takes you around some of the most historical points in Boston and the best part about it is that you can conduct the tour yourself and will not have to pay a penny (although there are various guide available at each historical site who will be dressed in period costume). This is a nice way to see the city on foot. 5). Museum of Science - Personally I have not visited this attraction but it does offer something alternative that may be of particular interest to children
Without a doubt the best way for tourist to get around the city its to use the subway which has links to all the major attractions, districts and the Logan International Airport.
Note that Boston is also an excellant place to shop as it offers tax free shopping on most items and things are roughly around half price when compared with British prices.
It is hard to really do this unstatedly cool city the real justice that it deserved, however in this review I have tried to outline some of the aspects that you can expect from Boston. To gain I real insight into what this city has to offer you really have to experience it for yourself.
Overall I would say that Boston is worth a visit (or maybe more than one!). I hope this guide has been of some use to you and if you have any further questions please email me at nicnak172004@hotmail.co.uk, Thanks Nicola x

Nice review, but I think you could have added a lot more detail about the city. Boston is a great place to visit and offers a lot of choice of things to do.
