Are you looking for somewhere to go on holiday? Do you want to go somewhere the kids will enjoy? Do you want to give them a holiday of a lifetime? Do you want to go somewhere that will be entertaining for you as well as the children?
If your answer is yes to any of the above questions then read on.
If I had to recommend anyway to take children on holiday it would be Majorca. To be more specific it would be Bouganvilla Park in SA Coma. I went there for five years in a row in between 1993 and 1997 and I really liked the place.
The first time I went I was only 13. My parents chose the destination as it had a really big swimming pool and an endless list of activities for teenagers to do. Also we were going with my cousin who was only 3 at the time. We went in May so it was convenient as we would only miss a week of school and also it wasn’t too hot for my cousin. We
all had a fantastic time and went we got home we went straight out to try book a place again for the next year. Of course we had to wait until the new brochures came out but like a flash my parents where in there booking it again. I couldn’t wait.
This happened for four years running and we only stopped going because my parents wanted to go somewhere different to Majorca. I still remember these holidays as if there were yesterday. The other week the resort was on a holiday programme and I watched with amazement to how much the place had changed. I thought it looked good when I got there but now it looks fantastic.
Swimming Pools
I think for children especially swimming pools are essential. I used to spend the whole day around the pool making friends and having fun. They have more than five swimming pools to choose from one been one of the biggest pools in Majorca. They are also hundreds of sun beds so there is not many times you will be without although I do recommend getting up early and reserving one with your beach towel.
Entertainment
When I was there they had a strong team of entertainment staff who remembered us year after year. Every night they perform the kiddies disco and have hundred of children on the dance floor dancing along to their favourite tracks, a classic been ‘the music man’. After the kiddies disco they put on shows providing entertainment for both the children and the adults. They have a competition to find Mr and Mrs Majorca and also hold regular karaoke competitions.
They have many things during the day for kids to do and have kids clubs for all ages ranging from toddlers to teenagers.
They have many sports facilities such as a football pitch, two tenniscourts and a volleyball court. When I used to go there they used to hold a mini Olympics that involved everyone competing for medals in different categories. I used to take part in Water polo, swimming, lilo races, football, and volleyball and also tennis so that day was easily taking up. Meeting people
I used to meet many people at Bouganvilla and used to come home with a list full of addresses. There are so many chances to meet people I think it is almost impossible not to.
Other facilities
Bouganvilla have many other things on site such as a gift shop and a supermarket.
The surrounding area
One thing I did find with Bouganvilla is it was quite far away from the beach. That is not a bad thing though as they provide a free train service to the beach from the front of the hotel. This is very frequent and means a journey of less than ten minutes. There are plenty of areas nearby that you can do shopping for your family and friends. We often went to Cala Millor at nighttime to sample different karaoke’s as our family are karaoke freaks.
Eating Out
If you chose to board self-catering on your holiday as we always did they are plenty of places to eat. Bouganvilla have a few restaurants on site which provide tasty meals but there are also other places within short walking distance.
Conclusion
What I really liked about Bouganvilla was the fact is was strictly for British. I think this helped as I often find with many foreigners around as a youngster you struggle to make friends.
My uncle and Auntie went back again last year with their two children and again loved the place.
The staff at the resort are very helpful as my auntie and uncle changed apartments two years running as they were not happy with where they where situated.
Bouganvilla has definitely won a place in our hearts and I am sure other people love it just as much. One day I hope to go back there and take my family (May be a few years yet!).
If you want to know more about the place feel free to post me questions and I will do my best to answer.
