Advantages: Everything about it. Disadvantages: Getting more expensive.
...A multitude of pubs and bars mixed with historic tourist attractions and the odd cobbled street make York a fascinating place to visit (or live).
There is so much to do, to see, to eat and to drink.
Highlights include the breaded mushrooms at Victor J's cafe-bar on Finkle Street, a pint of Terrier at Colliergate's Last Drop Inn and the sweet and sour fish at Goodramgate's Siam House.
Many new and expensive bars have made York the Notting Hill of the north, but there are enough traditional pubs that you feel like you are in the ancient city as portrayed in tourist brochures.
An excellent mix of the old and the new. Try it, I did and I ended up living here....

Advantages: stunning scenery, quiet and peaceful Disadvantages: v. cold in February!!!
...One of the highlights of my visit to New York was an early morning walk through Central Park. I never realised until I'd seen that we'd been passing it for ages, just how big it is, it's huge!
We were strapped for time but it was an incredible experience. It was just unbelievable how quiet and peaceful it was... you almost forget you're in the madness of New YorkCity.. until of course the skyline pokes itself over even the tallest trees.
I was there in February so a lot of the trees were bare, the lake we went past was frozen over and there was early morning frost making everything shimmer. It was such a perfect "Christmas-card" scene and I'd definitely love to go back....

Advantages: Convenient locations. Fixed price per room Disadvantages: Lack character of older hotels
...There is growing competition for Britain's traditional lodging industry with the entry of budget hotel chains into the UK market. One of the recent entrants is the US company,Days Inn,and although a relative "new kid on the block",they are already making waves.Although not the cheapest they do offer quite high quality accommodation for your money.
Most of the Days Inn hotels are located near to the main Motorway network which make them locationally convenient for taking a city break or visiting a theme park. Their current network of hotels include :
***Days Inn Sheffield South
***Days Inn Basingstoke East
***Birmingham Days Inn
***Days Inn Warwick North
***Days Inn Derby South
***Days Inn South Mimms

The New Yorker is in an excellent midtown location with the subway (lines A, C & E) literally steps outside. Being on the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street this meant good access to Macy's, Empire State Building, Madison Square Gardens and the... more
Postmodernism, eh? It's a funny old bag of fish. Even the holier-than-thou critics don't quite seem to know what it's all about. They argue whether it's
a) a revolt against modernism,
b) a progression of modernism,
c) both of these and more
or d) more
