Boxwood Cafe

(Please forgive my attempt at an innuendo!) Well, since I gave my review of The Narrow this morning (and thanks to everybody who gave me ratings and feedback), I thought I might as well recall my first Gordon Ramsay experience at the Boxwood Café. INTRODUCTION It was my 27th birthday ... Read review

No Box, No Wood... just Café

Advantages: excellent starter and dessert; thoughtful customer service
Disadvantages: chosen main course from the set menu was the weakest point of the meal

...Gordon Ramsay experience at the Boxwood Café.

=== INTRODUCTION ===
It was my 27th birthday earlier this year, and particularly because of a stressful work situation and a non-life I decided to treat myself to fine dining. I was particularly keen on Ramsay as I've been a fan of his for over a year. I also voluntarily went by myself to the restaurant.

The Boxwood Café is situated in the Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge, ...
...You can get to the Boxwood Café via public transport easily enough, but you might have to keep your eye out for it or you'll walk past it.

=== THE VENUE ===
The word that immediately sprang to mind when thinking of how to describe Boxwood: _grand_. From the moment you step inside you know you're in a high-end restaurant.

The seating area, if I remember correctly, is a floor down from the reception. It's a fairly ... more

Not worth paying more for a meal in a fancy restaurant

Advantages: nice decor, good ambience, excellent service
Disadvantages: expensive, left still feeling hungry

Gordon Ramsey's Boxwood Cafe is situated in the Berkeley Hotel in the Knightsbridge area of London. I went for a meal there way back in 2008 as part of a hen party which was organised by my friend. When I first heard we were going to a celebrity chef's restaurant I had high hopes and was eagerly anticipating having a tasty and filling meal but instead, was left disappointed. The entrance to the restaurant is by the side of the Berkeley hotel. The ...
...very relaxed and you can feel the sophisitication ooze from the walls. We were led downstairs to our table and we were impressed by how welcoming the staff were and how the table was presented. As we were a large party (there were 12 of us) we had to order from a set menu. Service was prompt and the staff were polite. The staff had been taught to make a plan of the table and note where everyone was sitting and what they had ordered so when the food ...

truly spectacular gordan ramsay cafe

Advantages: delicious, welcoming and it's gordan ramsay
Disadvantages: a bit expensive (but not overpriced)

...to spend too much, the boxwood cafe would be a smart choice. with equally delicious food, welcoming, sophisticated and a lovely environment (it is designed by Barbara Barry, one of the most prominent US designers). The tables are spacious and the proportions are generous. and the cafe is also famous for its attentive yet not over the top service, which makes you feel very welcoming and relaxed. it will cost you around £40 per person. given the high ...
...love the most about the boxwood cafe is that it uses the finest ingredients and this is what i think is the most important factor in food. A good chef can't turn low standard ingredients into good food but an average chef can turn fine ingredients into good food in my opinion. And you even have a good chef in boxwood, so the outcome is two thumbs up. full a la carte: starters -Chilled melon and basil soup with dublin Bay prawns -Fried oysters ...

The Narrow: you might forget it's a pub!

Advantages: excellent food; excellent atmosphere
Disadvantages: worked out to be expensive for just two courses; beware of being upsold

I won't attempt to expand on what the first reviewer said about The Narrow, and instead I'll give you my experience. (That's the purpose of a review!) INTRODUCTION I am one of many thousands upon millions of fans of Gordon Ramsay, but until earlier this year I had never eaten at any of his restaurants, nor had I tasted his food. That all changed on my birthday when I visited the Boxwood Café. The Narrow is the second of his establishments I have been to, with the help of lastminute.com. Unfortunately, this is also the second of his restaurants where I've gone by myself. The first time was entirely voluntary, but this time around I couldn't find a replacement guest. THE VENUE The Narrow is actually one of several pubs owned and run by Ramsay's company, and is situated on the bank of the Thames, close enough to Limehouse ...

Some well deserved luxury!

Advantages: Feeling like a VIP
Disadvantages: Prices can be tough on ordinary people like me!

ready. A very nice waiter pulls a trolley with a white cloth covered with all sorts, from pastries to scrambled egg, fruit to fresh juice, coffee, tea, english breakfast, kippers, toast? jams in little cute Bon Maman jars. Of course I could not eat all so I lower my head down in shame? I confess I made mysellf a goodie bag to bring any leftovers home... Another five out of five! FURTHER INFORMATION ********** The Berkeley hotel is situated in Wilton Place, Knightsbridge, London, SW1X 7RL, the closest underground station is Hyde Park Corner but Knightsbridge (both on the Piccadilly line) would still get you close enough. They do have a rather famous bar called The bue Bar (apparently Madonna seems to like it) and three restaurants: Petrus, Boxwood Café and The Caramel Room. For more information you can navigate through their ...
