Advantages Advantages Fantastic Asian cuisine, National Media Museum, fantastic heritage

Disadvantages Disadvantages Suffering from underinvestment and a lack of variety.

After seeing some of the hateful bile written about Bradford I felt compelled to write of my own experiences, especially as I come from the viewpoint of being a Leeds lad, moved to Shipley and spending alot of time in Bradford. As a city, I personally feel Bradford suffers from a bit of 'short-ar*e sydrome' - it's not as big as Leeds, doesn't have as much investment or success and generally it seems to be constantly trying to come up with a 'big idea' to help it compete against other cities in Yorkshire. The latest is 'Park at the Heart', which though I initially supported it seems to ... more

Advantages Advantages some nice people...the Bradford RIO!!!

Disadvantages Disadvantages oooh, where do i start

Bradford, it has to be said, is a pretty scruffy place to live. Not only that, but its quite an embarrassing place to admit to. A friend of mine who has just gone to university, does not tell people he is from Bradford, but claims to live “just outside Leeds.” I, on the other hand am pathetically proud and defensive of my home town. After all, I have lived here all my life, and have managed to have quite a good time (for most of it anyway) Although the Bradford riots were sickening, frightening and, once again, embarrassing for the Bradfordians (and this is the majority) who had ... more

Advantages Advantages Loads to do and see, all "packed close together" for east access, good transport service

Disadvantages Disadvantages Shopping (actually its OK but just not great, not when theres Leeds next door), reputation, football lol

What images are conjoured up in your mind when you think of Bradford? Empty retail units? Third rate housing? Substandard city basically? In fact, this is 100% untrue! There is, in fact, a surprising amount to do and see here. See my op on Bradford in General to find out more, but lets go through some of the things there are to see. --National Museum of Photography, Film and Television-- (see seperate op also) This is an excellent museum with seven storeys of interesting displays, constantly changing galleries and, whats more, no entrance fee! To get into the Pictureville, Imax and Chubby ... more

Advantages Advantages Friendly,multi-cultural,multi-ethnic city Great asian Food

Disadvantages Disadvantages Unfashionable image. Some poor housing areas

The much-maligned Yorkshire city of Bradford has had its detractors over the years and could fairly be described as rather unfashionable. However, a lot has changed in recent years and the city has become quite an important centre for tourism. The city has several good hotels, the fine Alhambra theatre, the interesting quarter known as "Little Germany", a progressive University with a good reputation especially in business studies, the Museum of Film and Photography and it is a good base for tours to Bronte Country, and to the lovely Yorkshire Dales. Both soccer and rugby league are popular in ... more
