Oakleigh Guest House

Advantages: A warming, pleasant atmosphere with spotless rooms and good service
Disadvantages: Decor not particularly modern

I currently live in Stourport on Severn in the heart of Worcestershire and recently had some distant relatives come to visit for the weekend and we needed somewhere for them to stay as our house just wasn?t big enough to accommodate the whole family. In the end we decided to book a couple of rooms at the Oakleigh Guest House as I had heard good reviews on the place from friends. ~Location~ Oakleigh Guest House is situated right in the heart of Stourport on Severn town centre so is in a perfect location to access all the local amenities. However it is situated far enough away from the main High Street so that you don?t get the noise from the pubs on a Friday and Saturday Night. The guest house is situated on York Street in Stourport on Severn and is situated right next to the canal lock and overlooks the basin and river which ...

A good place to stay in Whitby

Advantages: Excellent food, good location
Disadvantages: Not suitable for disabled

Whitby is a small fishing town in the north east of England that has plenty to offer the visitor. If you want to explore this place properly then the chances are you will need to stay overnight and Whitby has numerous different B&B's and Guest Houses to choose from. The Number Five is an example of one such Bed & Breakfast establishment and this is a place where I have stayed several times. It is located in the new part of the town on the opposite side of the water from the Abbey. It is however centrally located within the main part of the new town and it is only a few minutes walk from the shops and the bridge. If you take a stroll in the opposite direction towards the sea then within just a few minutes you will arrive at the Captain Cook Memorial and the Whale Bone Arch. From the outside Number Five looks like any of the other ...

Fathers Guest House, great place in the Cameron Highlands

Advantages: Location, views, surroundings
Disadvantages: Disappointing dorm room

Fathers Guest house has the perfect location on a small hill overlooking the tiny town of Tanah Rata in the Cameron highlands. Situated outside the town, but only a 3 minute walk into it, it has fantastic views and is tranquil but still has access to any activities the town has to offer. If you call the owners in advance letting them known when you will arrive then they will collect you from the town and save the walk up the hill with heavy bags. They also tend to be one of the touts who wander the bus drop off area and so if you arrive by bus then there is almost always someone there who you can ask to get a lift up the hill. Driving up towards the guesthouse the first thing that is obvious is that this is a beautiful area. The views from the top go right across the town and amongst the rolling hills of the area. The Cameron highlands ...
