Advantages: Unique City in a way Disadvantages: Not much fun

I have lived in Brasilia for a while. At that time I was trying to settle in Brazil and Brasilia was a city where I had many friends and contacts, and it was not excessively hot, at least in comparison to Salvador from where I was coming. Brasilia is a modern city, literally built out of nothing. It is the capital of the Brazilian state. Some tourists venture here to see the planned city and a couple of modern monuments. I never bothered myself, although the lack of a car gave me the opportunity of walking the city up and down. ...within the state of Goiania. Brasilia is a modern city. At the time of construction full license was given to the planners and architects to build large, innovative buildings and to fully use their freedom of spirit and imagination. Another purpose was to open up the interior of the country to development. This is one reason why the central government was moved there. I would recommend that you visit this city if you get the chance. You can travel ...

Advantages: Near the Beach, Family run. Disadvantages: Quite small, limited breakfast
I recently went to Chipiona in August 2006. We stayed at the Hotel Brasilia which is located about 3-5 minute walk away from the long, sandy stretch of beach. We arrived at the hotel in a taxi and as soon as we got to the reception straight away we knew it would be completely different to any other spanish holiday we have been on. The receptionist started speaking spanish to us and thankfully my sister, who is studying spanish managed to work out what she was saying. We were directed to our room and had time to have a look round. The room is spacious, had a tele, a lovely marble bathroom, a big wardrobe and a desk. Another major thing we were happy about was the fact that the room had air-conditioning, which we kept on for the whole of the day. However we found out that room didn't actually have a safe for me to put my wallet ...

Advantages: Nicely restored tourist friendly old town Disadvantages: The ladies hunt in packs
Salvador, in the state of Bahia, north east Brazil (or São Salvador da Baía de Todos os Santos as it was named in the past) was the first colonial capital city of Brazil and, although power shifted to Rio de Janeiro in the late eighteenth century, then to Brasilia in 1960, it retains much of it's past grandeur and colonial architecture. One of the main reasons to come here, however, is the wonderful mix of cultural influences that make the cuisine, music and lifestyle here so different even to other parts of Brazil. The population of over three million, consists mainly of people with African origins descended from slaves, although there have been many other strong influences through Salvador's history. Salvador is also famous for it's carnival and street parties.
The final stop on my extensive two-week tour of Brazil was to Salvador ...
