This traditional brewery on Wielandstrasse is a veritable institution: filled with business people and tourists from noon onwards, Brauerei-Ausschank Frankenheim is known for its wonderful Frankenheim Alt beer (EUR 1.30). Hungry visitors should accompany their beer with the beerhappen - a selection of snacks for EUR 2.50 - or one of the hearty main dishes like schweinshaxe (roast pork) for EUR 9. The beer garden is particularly pleasant.
Advantages: Huge Selection Disadvantages: Can be expensive
...There is a wide selecion of pubs in dusseldorf so I will only recommend a few of the best. To begin with I will recommend a few pubs in the altstadt. The first is McLaughlins Irish Pub. This is widely regarded as the premium Irish pub in Dusseldorf. This is partly because of the wide selsection of nationalities of the pubs customers. it is easy here to walk in and immediatley find someone to talk about, usually in english. The staff here are very friendly, and the owner Tom is alwaays ready to welcome visitors to dusseldorf and give them a few tips of whats on. Every Thursday here is a student night but everyone not just students are welcome, the beer is half price and there is always a great atmosphere. The second is Mai Tai which is a Thai cocktail bar located in the altstadt, which serves a large range of cocktails at reasonalbe...

...Dusseldorf is one of the most attractive and upmarket cities in Germany. Partly this is because of the international makeup of the city. Many firms, in particular Japanese firms have made Dusseldorf their European base, and this toghther with the international Messe(trading fair)provides a very international outlook. Not being able to speak german is not a disadvantage as much as in other german cities, with most people in shops, resturants and civil officals speaking at least passable english. Possibly the two greatest attractions in dusseldorf are the Altstadt(old city) and the Konigssalle, which is one of the premier shopping streets worldwide. The altstadt is a large pedestrian area containing shops, resturants and bars, and is known as the longest bar in the world, with the area covering more than three square kilometers...

Advantages: Quality Disadvantages: Can be expensive
...The cheapest club of any quality in Dusseldorf is Sub which is located in the Altstadt. This club only costs 5dm(1.70 pounds)to get in and then provides well priced drinks. A large cocktail for example costs about DM 14 which is less than five pounds, while a glass of draught beer(0.3 litre) costs about DM 3.50 which is about 1.15 pounds. A large advantage is that there is waiter service so you don't have to spend a long time waiting for a drink. The music here is varied with hip hop and house/trance the main components, although these are mostly commercial tracks. The club is well worth a visit. Other clubs worthwhile include La Rocca which is located on the Konigsalle and is more expensive, playing mostly hardcore house and trans. The Malkasten is one of the best clubs in Dusseldorf but is quite expensive, entrance on the weekends...
