SHOO-shuh
Advantages: Good transport cheap hotels Disadvantages: Food and poverty
There was absolutely no doubt! Gunshots! My God they are starting a revolution. They were shooting all night and people were screaming and shouting. That was our first night i Rio and we knew it wasn't the carneval. Leaving the room wasn't easy but it had to be done sooner or later. There was still quite a lot of noise in the streets so I wasn't feeling to good about the whole situation. I went down to the reception and tried to ask about the 'revolution'. ... ...as if our assumptions about the revolution were right. But no it was all about 'Footeball and Carneval'. Apparently Rio had lost an important match against Recife. And the fans form Recife were running around in the streets partying or basically humiliating the losers - RIO. This went or for about three days. Our plan was to go up the coastline to Belem and then Manaus. That's a long way - too long to tell you the truth. But one thing was the long ...

Poor Niagara!
Advantages: Stunning, dramatic - possibly the most impressive waterfalls in the world. Disadvantages: Expensive to reach.
“Poor Niagara!”
So remarked Eleanor Roosevelt upon seeing the Iguazú Falls for the first time; it is this sense of immediate and lasting awe that best defines 250+ waterfalls that together form the blanket of crashing water separating Brazil and Argentina. Second though it may be to Victoria Falls in statistics of size and volume, in more subjective terms of comparison, there can be few other natural sites with such impact and inherent raw beauty.

Reaching the Falls
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Around two hours’ flight north of Buenos Aires and west of Rio, the Falls lie just to the south-east of the Brazil-Argentina-Paraguay border. Although technically three towns, Foz do Iguaçu, Puerto Iguazú and Ciudad del Este form one large urban sprawl around the confluence of the Parana and Iguazú rivers. Both Foz and Puerto Iguazú make good bases for seeing the Falls (or Cataratas), ...

São Salvador da Baía de Todos os Santos
Advantages: Nicely restored tourist friendly old town Disadvantages: The ladies hunt in packs
...north east Brazil (or São Salvador da Baía de Todos os Santos as it was named in the past) was the first colonial capital city of Brazil and, although power shifted to Rio de Janeiro in the late eighteenth century, then to Brasilia in 1960, it retains much of it's past grandeur and colonial architecture. One of the main reasons to come here, however, is the wonderful mix of cultural influences that make the cuisine, music and lifestyle here so different ... ...strong influences through Salvador's history. Salvador is also famous for it's carnival and street parties.
The final stop on my extensive two-week tour of Brazil was to Salvador and the surroundings. We flew from Brasilia to Salvador Airport, taking less than two hours and checked into our hotel, Pousada do Boqoeirao, which we had booked before departure. This is an attractive Pousada or guesthouse, which was originally two colonial houses, just ...

Buzios
Advantages: Peaceful, marvellous, relatively cheap & friendly people Disadvantages: Amenities, transport
It is a marvellous spot, full of small beaches and very close to Rio de Janeiro city. Bridget Bardo launched it to glamour.
Beatiful night with beatiful people.
A must if you are visiting Rio de Janeiro city. Just 2 hours from the capital. ...

Where the Waters Meet
Advantages: better than English summer, better than English food, pink dolphins Disadvantages: worse than English roads, worse than English queues
...Brazil more and more.
Manaus is a capital of Amazonia state and most fascinating thing for me was that there are no roads to the city 9actually there is one but not really used as it goes through the jungle and not in a very good condition). It is surrounded by 300-400 miles of Amazon rainforest so it is almost impossible to build a road. The only proper way to come to Manaus is by boat or by plane. The city lays on the Rio Negro (black river) just ... ...my impressions about Brazil and Manaus were mostly through the excellent food. They are famous for their grilled meet. There are plenty of fruits on offer, everything fresh, sweet with many exotic things to taste. I was most impressed with pineapple as it is much sweeter from the ones we eat here. Rivers are rich source of various fishes (including piranhas).
I had a time for a short trip by boat and it was really quite an amazing trip for me. First ...
