Breezes Beach Club, Zanzibar

Disadvantages: not much nightlife

...The paradise island in the Indian Ocean . The main why I went to visit Zanzibar was for the beaches. Zanzibar has amazing white sandy beaches surrounded by the clear blue sea. It's the perfect place to simply, relax, get yourself a golden tan and admire the stuning views. It's very picturesque. There are altogether 25 beaches in Zanzibar, and my personal favourite is Kiwengwa. This beach is less crowded and so it's very peaceful. The only noise is the ocean. There is a place called Shooting Star Inn, which is quite small, but allows you to stay minutes away from the beach. Stone Town Stone Town is over 200 years old. It's very busy and crowded but it's the cultural centre for Zanzibar. It's made up of small winding alleyways and grand Arab houses. If nothing else, you must go to Stone Town to see these houses. Advantages: great beach,friendly local,cheaper hotels and quiet holiday
Disadvantages: during the low tide the water tend to go far

...My sister and i stayed on the east coast of Zanzibar Island at Jambiani village,We stayed for 7 nights at small hotel Mbuyuni Beach Village,the location was great, We had awasome time in our simple but clean thatched beach bungalow. The beach and the local peoples were great but be aware of low tide rotation the water rotates every 4 hours during the low tide you have to walk for 4 minutes for swim,but during the high tide there is no problem at all. note that most restaurants on this coast serve mainly sea food ,We hardly found one with full vegtarian menu, most the sea food are fresh "daily catch" During the day,you will find lots of local women on the beach that offer massage services for reasonable prices.... ...there were about 20 people on a long stretch of the beach the whole day (most of them couples living in the same hotel as us) and the odd person just passing through trying to sell thier catch for the day.The service was fantastic......it really one of those places to go to when you just want to get away from it all and enjoy the company of your spouse or significant other. The disadvantage of Pongwe is that it is far from any major attractions. If you need to do a bit of shopping or experience the culture and people, you need to arrange for a taxi and leave early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. The experience and sights of Zanzibar are definately worth the time and the money.... Read review
