Advantages: Lovely hotel, plenty of things to do. Disadvantages: Poor location - need a car.
This BridgewoodManor Hotel, well I guess I should start with where it is.
The address for this hotel is: Bridgewood Roundabout, Chatham, Kent. It is situated in Walderslade and is approx. 42 miles from London Gatwick Airport and 3 miles from Chatham Train Station.
There are many things to do nearby - Chatham Dockyard is only 6 miles away, as is Rochester Cathedral. There's the infamous Bluewater Shopping Centre only 16 miles away and Leeds Castle is 10 miles away. Ideally, you would need a car to travel around but if you are only looking to explore the surrounding areas, there are a couple of buses that stop close by, and taxi's are fairly inexpensive.
Now, let's talk about what you can in the BridgewoodManor Hotel:
This hotel boasts an excellent range of amenities including a health centre. Within this there is an indoor ...
Advantages: Clean, comfortable and relaxing hotel, with relaxing ambience. Good deals are often available. Disadvantages: Rooms are possibly on the small side. Location is "interesting", to say the least.
I enjoy staying in decent hotels and in the course of finding different places to stay (and review) at bargain prices, I can often be found in hotels in fairly bizarre locations - take Basingstoke and Slough as previous examples. Who in their right minds...? My latest delectable destination was charming Chatham - one of the "Medway Towns" in mid-Kent, with what can only be described as an "interesting" reputation. It's not exactly somewhere you'd choose to go on holiday. Forsaking all reason, I went there last night, to stay at the BridgewoodManor Hotel. Which was nice. Just don't tell my friends I did it!
The hotel is located in quiet woodland and pleasant enough gardens, near to the M2 motorway in Kent. I've already ruled it out as being a holiday destination, and can only assume that it thrives on conferences and weddings ...
Advantages: Great for conferences Disadvantages: Not overly romantic...if you want romance!
Tankersley manor
On a recent conference, I travelled to Barnsley and stayed in the four star Tankersley Manor Hotel, which is one of the Marston Group of hotels
**Getting there**
The hotel is situated between Sheffield and Barnsley
From North and South-follow the M1
From East-take the M18 then join M1 North towards Sheffield/Leeds
From West-take M62. Leave at Junction 29, which becomes Junction 42 of the M1
Exit the M1 at Junction 36 and follow the signs for A61 Sheffield. After half a mile, turn left onto Church Lane and Tankersley Manor is on the right.
If travelling by train, it is about 3 / 4 miles from Barnsley train station and costs about £9.
**ENTRANCE**
When we drove in through the large gates, what struck me initially was the number of car parking spaces. This is definitely one place which has set ...
