Centrally based, reasonably priced hotel
Review of Best Western Brighton Hotel, Brighton by
redstar3
Advantages: Near to all facilities, shopping, clubs, seafront etc
Disadvantages: Can be noisy at weekends
Near to the sea front, to a wide range of restaurants and all the key shopping facilities in Brighton. It is also near many of the clubs, very near to the main conference and exhibition centre and is next to the cinema.
Very reasonable prices for Brighton and good size rooms which are clean but basic. Fairly good accessible rooms for disabled people including adjustable wardrobes, though you would need to check for your own specific requirements. ... ...and thel reception staff are very helfpul, especially if you are new to Brighton or on your own. The hotel is on a busy road which is good for taxis and buses, but this means that at weekends, some rooms can be rather noisy, and one moring I was woken up with bottles being smashed in a refuse collection. The other distraction are the seagulls which are very active at certain times of the year but I found this a great change from city life! ...

The Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton
Review of Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton by
beanie8844
Advantages: great location, cheap, nice rooms, excellent food
Disadvantages: no parking, quite dated
Introduction to the hotel:
The Royal Albion Hotel was built in 1826 and is situated in a fantastic location opposite Brighton pier. It is a three star hotel and has 186 guest rooms offering views of Brighton beach or the town centre. My experience of the hotel:
I spent one night in the hotel in January of this year and for a three star hotel I was quite impressed. I and my girlfriend booked a double room for £55 and it was a spacious room with ... ...number of reviews about the Royal Albion and some have been not to complentary about it, complaing the décor was very dated and their stay was quite unpleasant. I however disagree with these views and thought the hotel to be perfectly adequate for a stay in Brighton. The location was excellent, the room nice and the food on offer was splendid. I would certainly recommend it and will be staying there again on my next trip to the south coast. The only ...

A truly Grand Hotel
Review of The De Vere Grand, Brighton by
RichPrice
Advantages: Almost Everything about the hotel
Disadvantages: The Cost
The De Vere Grand hotel Brighton is an impressive hotel, part of the De Vere chain of over 25 luxury hotels. The De Vere website www.devere.co.uk has lots of information on the hotel and also some special offers. It is located on the Sea Front in close proximity to all of Brighton's major attractions.
The hotel has approximately 200 rooms, ranging from singles, to doubles to doubles with sea views to deluxe doubles with seaviews to suites. Prices ... ...and leaving after lunch on the following Sunday. I ate in the hotel for breakfast and Sunday lunch.
The Hotel looks Grand when you arrive. It is a really handsome building both internally and externally. Reception was impresive, as indeed were all the public rooms. Spotless, really good quality furnishings and lots of helpful, friendly staff who at the same time are very proficient and professional. Its' actually quite a difficult balance to acheive ...

Brighton Rocks in The Lanes
Review of Thistle Hotel, Brighton by
jude76
Advantages: great location, friendly & knowledgable
Disadvantages: car parking & breakfast!!
...work.
We choose the Thistle due to cost and availability really - many of the hotels on the travel website we use were fully booked or looked in need of paint and repair. This was advertised as being close to The Lanes and numerous restaurants as well as being sea front based.
LOCATION
The Thistle is a glass fronted, modern looking hotel, situated approx 200 yards from Brighton Pier, directly on the seafront.
I say modern looking, because most ... ...so the Thistle stood out somewhat!!!
Directly behind this hotel is The Lanes and various restaurants - so it really is close to all amenities as advertised.
ARRIVAL
Finding the hotel was easy, parking was not!!!
The car park the hotel uses is not signposted well - in fact, it has signs all over stating this is not for use by hotel guests!!
However, that said, there is parking available directly under the hotel - charged at £15 per 24 hour period ...

An experience not to be repeated
Review of Belgrave Hotel, Brighton by
aliamatt
Advantages: Central and on sea front so good location
Disadvantages: Staff unfriendly and unhelpful.
Due to a theatre trip to Brighton I and my partner did a late booking for this hotel over the net . I wish I had read some of the reviews first. Although well situated, I cannot think of much else to reccommend it.
We arrived with our booking reference and were treated as if we were some tramps who had walked in. The young lady spent some time silently searching the computer and when she found the booking seemed quite dissappointed. I was asked ... ...Our double room was so cramped that it was impossible to move around it togther. The double bed was crammed into a corner and difficult to move around. Fortunately we had only a very small overnight bag , if we had had suitcases goodness knows where we could have put them. It was a single room with a double bed in it, basically and very uncomfortable. We went out for the evening and arrived back about eleven o'clock. There was a bouncer on the door ...
