The Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton
Advantages: great location, cheap, nice rooms, excellent food Disadvantages: no parking, quite dated
Introduction to the hotel:
The Royal Albion Hotel was built in 1826 and is situated in a fantastic location opposite Brighton pier. It is a three star hotel and has 186 guest rooms offering views of Brighton beach or the town centre. My experience of the hotel:
I spent one night in the hotel in January of this year and for a three star hotel I was quite impressed. I and my girlfriend booked a double room for £55 and it was a spacious room with ... ...number of reviews about the Royal Albion and some have been not to complentary about it, complaing the décor was very dated and their stay was quite unpleasant. I however disagree with these views and thought the hotel to be perfectly adequate for a stay in Brighton. The location was excellent, the room nice and the food on offer was splendid. I would certainly recommend it and will be staying there again on my next trip to the south coast. The only ...

A bit tired and manky
Advantages: A place you can book for 1 night Disadvantages: Expensive for what you get
Stayed at the Metropole this weekend. Booked 3 rooms, a Deluxe plus room for my mother (it was her birthday treat) at £210 and 2 rooms for our family at £145 each on mezzanine room. My mothers room was nice, large, seaview although the weather was hideous and there was a gap around the window where the rain came in.No bath robe but Champneys toiletries were a nice touch. However our rooms were dark with tiny windows looking our onto a brick wall, ... ...and bins. Both had dark manky nets. Inferior toiletries, no bath robes, a hairdryer that only had cold air, a flickering bulb in the bathroom.(which they changed quickly when we rang). On the whole for the money it was awful. The toilet in our kids twin room actually started off as a hilarious joke but became annoying. When flushed it made the noice of a motorbike for approx. 3 mins then changed to a higher pitch for the next 2 mins! They also had ...

Faultless
Advantages: Just beautiful Disadvantages: none
...I booked a night at the Grand for £165 for this we got an evening meal, bed and breakfast. It was slightly out of season, October so the hotel was nowhere near full, think high season would be much dearer.
We were delighted to discover that we had been put into a room with a sea view, we really weren't expecting that, as we hadn't specifically ordered one, to be honest we imagined that we may be in the "boiler room bowels", we wouldn't have minded ... ...unexpected bonus.
The room was small, but beautiflly decorated, very tasteful, olde worlde style, but obviously brand new and in perfect condition. The room was air conditioned, and also had a ceiling fan. The ensuite bathroom was something else! It had a mirror with lights all around it, a bath and power shower, sumptous robes for our use, about £20 worth of L'occitane toiletries. The bedroom also had a free wireless internet point..so I could ...

Three nights in the Ramada Jarvis!
Advantages: The whole experience was an advantage. Disadvantages: -
...of my fiancé was the Ramada Jarvis hotel in Brighton, I have never stayed in a hotel in Brighton before having only visited once previously and having stayed in a bed and breakfast so I cannot compare it to other hotels in the Brighton area but I can compare it to other hotels throughout Britain and indeed Europe as I am fairly well travelled.
The first thing of note with this hotel is that it has a modern look without losing any grandeur, I often ... ...Ramada Jarvis was every bit as attractive as the old prestigious hotels dotted around it but with a real up to date look and indeed feel to it.
It is situated in a very nice location, very close to the many winding lanes and pathways that are simply alive with beautiful boutiques and equally close to the famous pebble beach where if weather permits as it did for us you can spend a very leisurely afternoon.
The hotel has 123 rooms in total all of ...

Centrally based, reasonably priced hotel
Advantages: Near to all facilities, shopping, clubs, seafront etc Disadvantages: Can be noisy at weekends
Near to the sea front, to a wide range of restaurants and all the key shopping facilities in Brighton. It is also near many of the clubs, very near to the main conference and exhibition centre and is next to the cinema.
Very reasonable prices for Brighton and good size rooms which are clean but basic. Fairly good accessible rooms for disabled people including adjustable wardrobes, though you would need to check for your own specific requirements. ... ...and thel reception staff are very helfpul, especially if you are new to Brighton or on your own. The hotel is on a busy road which is good for taxis and buses, but this means that at weekends, some rooms can be rather noisy, and one moring I was woken up with bottles being smashed in a refuse collection. The other distraction are the seagulls which are very active at certain times of the year but I found this a great change from city life! ...
