Centrally based, reasonably priced hotel

Advantages: Near to all facilities, shopping, clubs, seafront etc
Disadvantages: Can be noisy at weekends

Near to the sea front, to a wide range of restaurants and all the key shopping facilities in Brighton. It is also near many of the clubs, very near to the main conference and exhibition centre and is next to the cinema. Very reasonable prices for Brighton and good size rooms which are clean but basic. Fairly good accessible rooms for disabled people including adjustable wardrobes, though you would need to check for your own specific requirements. ...
...and thel reception staff are very helfpul, especially if you are new to Brighton or on your own. The hotel is on a busy road which is good for taxis and buses, but this means that at weekends, some rooms can be rather noisy, and one moring I was woken up with bottles being smashed in a refuse collection. The other distraction are the seagulls which are very active at certain times of the year but I found this a great change from city life! ...

Family-fun, friendly and easy going

Advantages: Right by the sea
Disadvantages: Not in the heart of Brighton

The Princes Marine Hotel is a 4 star hotel situated on the coastal road from Brighton to Hove. It is a newly built hotel (only a few years old) and I had the fortune to be invited to dine there in the in-house restaurant a few years ago. The food was delicious and plentiful, following traditional English recipes. The service was excellent and the bar next door that we ajourned to afterwards stocks one of the largest selections of spirits I have seen ...

Brighton Rock

Advantages: Impressive building, good food and attentive staff
Disadvantages: Small bathroom, slightly dated decor in bedroom

This weekend found me in Brighton at the Courtland’s Hotel, for a last minute weekend “desperate” revision school with the Open University. The hotel is classified as three stars by the AA and RAC and it also has an RAC dining award. As I was at a revision school, the choice of hotel was not mine, and when I saw the leaflet which was sent with my class joining instructions, I did think that the hotel was perhaps not one I would normally pick. Although ...
...leaflet looked a little dated in terms of style. I was also advised I was booked into a single room and I could not check in until 430pm. Location ----------- The hotel is located on Grand Avenue, Hove, and is a five minute walk from the sea front, and an ample selection of shops and restaurants at Hove. The property is easily reached by bus from central Brighton within a few minutes, and a taxi ride would cost about £6. Rates ------ My rate ...

Relaxing break at Drakes of Brighton

Advantages: Well located chic hotel with some great amenities
Disadvantages: Sightly overpriced and smaller room than expected

This great little boutique hotel on Brighton's sea front is a welcome escape from the city. I stayed at this hotel in the Autumn and although I had hoped to get a sea facing room the next best thing left was a City Facing Feature room at £155 a night. When we arrived in Brighton, reception arranged for a taxi to pick us up from the marina where we parked the car for free and actually it was a very speedy affair and better than having to trawl around ...
...the hotel we were shown immediately to our room and everyone was very friendly. Reception was in the bar and looked good but we didn't actually have drinks there as it always seemed a little quiet. The room was located at the back of the hotel and therefore we didn't suffer from road noise which I guess was the payoff for not managing to get a sea facing room. It was split level with the bathroom down a small flight of stairs, this feature made ...

Hotel New Europe Brighton

Advantages: Great location
Disadvantages: Not very clean. Breakfast not so good

...We decided on the New Europe Hotel at £60 a night for a double room with breakfast. Our first impression of the room was that it wasn't very clean. We had a fantastic view of the sea and Brighton Pier ... well it would have been a great view if the windows had not been so filthy. We were advised it was ok to park the car on the steet directly outside the hotel. Next morning the car was about to be towed away and we got a £30 parking fine. Whilst ...
...price of the room included the entrance fee to a local night club. This turned out to be untrue. There was a concession but it was not totally free entrance. The breakfast was unsubstanstial as the chef was unable to cook eggs. They were fried so hard they had a powdery consistency and left a bitter aftertaste. Never again. ...
