A bit tired and manky
Advantages: A place you can book for 1 night Disadvantages: Expensive for what you get
Stayed at the Metropole this weekend. Booked 3 rooms, a Deluxe plus room for my mother (it was her birthday treat) at £210 and 2 rooms for our family at £145 each on mezzanine room. My mothers room was nice, large, seaview although the weather was hideous and there was a gap around the window where the rain came in.No bath robe but Champneys toiletries were a nice touch. However our rooms were dark with tiny windows looking our onto a brick wall, ... ...and bins. Both had dark manky nets. Inferior toiletries, no bath robes, a hairdryer that only had cold air, a flickering bulb in the bathroom.(which they changed quickly when we rang). On the whole for the money it was awful. The toilet in our kids twin room actually started off as a hilarious joke but became annoying. When flushed it made the noice of a motorbike for approx. 3 mins then changed to a higher pitch for the next 2 mins! They also had ...

Great value hotel near Brighton Seafront
Advantages: Read text Disadvantages: Read text
Westbourne Hotel, Brighton
Introduction
This hotel is located to the east side of Kemptown in Brighton city centre. It is fairly easy to get to as it is ten minutes walk to Brighton station and Brighton Marina, where there is extensive shopping and leisure facilities such as ten pin bowling and pool. It takes two minutes walk to the sea front and Brighton pier, and other local attractions and shops are all nearby. There are many restaurants, ... ...sure to find something to interest you whilst on a short stay here. This hotel has eight or ten bedroom set over three floors. There is a step access to the hotel only which makes it difficult for disabled people to use this hotel. The road itself is on a downward slope towards the sea front. The road also is not a main road, though is quite a busy single carriage road. Booking Process
We found this very straightforward process as we used the ...

New Steine Hotel
Advantages: Good location, small and friendly Disadvantages: Poor decor and furnishings for the price of the rooms
The New Steine Hotel is in a good location, very close to the sea front and close by to the shops and bars, however, when you look at the website you imagine the hotel to be of a higher standard than it actually is!! Rooms/lounge etc. Our ''Deluxe Double with a Sea View' was 2 matresses pushed together with a hard ply wood head board stuck to the wall. No lamp on one side of the bed and the sea view was only visible if you put your head outside of ... ...it was fixed in one position and not visible from one side of the bed. Although it was clean and the people were very helpful and friendly we did expect more for £230 for 2 nights. Have to say the breakfast was ok though.
Maybe I am out of touch with the prices of Hotels but I have stayed in hotels of a much higher standard from less money in the past!! Guess thats the city for you! ...

Don't believe all the hype
Advantages: Great location Disadvantages: Not worthy of 4 stars
The Alvia is a small guest house in Brighton that describes itself as a boutique style hotel but don't be fooled by this promotional blurb. That's not to say that there is anything drastically wrong with this place so long as you are not expecting anything more than a standard seaside B&B. It is graded as a 4 star guest house by the Tourist Board and has won numerous awards over the years. However please note that this place has recently changed ... ...that attracted me to the Alvia is that it offers parking spaces. Parking is notoriously difficult and expensive in Brighton but this place has room for about six cars at an additional fee of £10 per day. One thing that you need to be aware of however is that if you park here you will not be able to use your car at all during your stay since the proprietors don't live here and your car will be locked in. This wasn't a problem for me and it was explained ...
