Great seafood at the Regency
Advantages: Great grub, good value, good portions Disadvantages: Location on the land-side of the busy seafront road
The Regency is well known locally as a good choice for those who like their seafood, and we think it deserves its good reputation. The only down-side is that it's on the wrong side of the busy coast road, so the traffic gets between you and the beach. It's directly opposite the sad rusting pile of metal which used to be the West Pier. It offers something for all fish-fans, from good old cod 'n' chips to oysters etc. We eat there a few times every ... ...of the ouzo measures, which aren't quite what we get on holiday in Greece!). It's all good value for money, good portions, and there's a friendly buzz about it. We always aim to eat outside, but inside has got a pleasantly traditional sort of style which reminds you that this is a restaurant which has been serving Brighton's residents & tourists for years. There aren't that many tables outside, so it's worth avoiding peak meal times to get the sunshine!

Meeting place - Don't meet a good friend
Advantages: Great location Disadvantages: Food and service can be incredibly poor.
One of the popular braekfast venues on the seafront just doesn't live up to the hype. Without it's excellent location this cafe would be a definate none-starter. Food is often served cold and when taken back (a practice I thouroghly hate) you are greeted with a practiced shrug and a warmed through version of the now rubber like breakfast. Venue can be very busy, especially in teh summer months. Good starting location to walk east along the front. ...

English seafood at its best
Advantages: Great fish recipes and good atmosphere Disadvantages: Not much for non-fish eaters, not very accessible for disabled people
Although considered a traditional restaurant, I found it modern in its approach to fish recipes. The main restaurant is "old style" with white table cloths and excellent service. There is very little room between the tables downstairs but haven't visited the room upstairs.
it is easy to eat a reasonably priced meal at lunchtimes with superb cooking and great fish. The main menu has a wide range for fish eaters but very little choice for meat eaters ... ...shared a delicious dish of mixed seafood with a range of sauces that was memorable, even now. Some dishes are expensive and it definitely isn't a cheap option but you really feel well looked after and the quality of the food is difficult to beat.
It is not very accessible for wheelchair users inside but the outside tables when the weather is good, are good options. When my mother was ill, the restaurant cooked her favourite Dover Sole Meuniere and ...
