A UNIQUE CITY IN WHICH TO LIVE OR VISIT

Advantages: Cosmopolitan, full of things to do and see, all-year-round resort
Disadvantages: Parking (charges), traffic, no department store

...are looking for reviews of Brighton pubs and nightclubs then I am sorry but you are reading the wrong review. You are not entirely out of luck however, as I know that there are a good few reviews of just such places only a couple of clicks away from here.

Apologies to the many of you who know the town and say; 'RICHADA you've left out this, that or the other' - I'm sorry, but this is MY review. I am sure that there are many interesting ...
...I started to really SEE Brighton and enjoy it for what it is.

Like many people who have lived in their own home town for many years I tended just to take it for granted. You want to go shopping; you know where to go, where to park etc. My parents did not take me to the beach or onto the pier when I was young, several of the famous places that I list below they never took me to and in all honesty I just accepted their word that such ... more

Family Friendly

City By The Sea

Advantages: Lively, eccentric, varied
Disadvantages: Expensive, considerable amounts of traffic

Recently granted city status, Brighton has traditionally had a reputation for being a destination for a convenient day-trip or a dirty weekend, but such fleeting visits barely do the area justice. Spread out along the coast, around 50 miles south of London's outer fringes, the city has enjoyed a rather successful decade of regeneration and growth. This has brought a number of new developments (with the long-standing promises of much more to come), ...
...- however, this does make Brighton as an individual entity feel a little on the small side for a city; although this need not be a bad thing. The main traffic hub of the area is probably the Old Steine, a roughly half-mile long opening between the buildings, where a congested one-way system carves up a series of parks and monuments, running from St.Peter's Church at one end to Brighton Pier (the one which isn't derelict and crumbling) at the other. ...

BRIGHTON ROCKS! MY HOMETOWN

Advantages: Lively, Entertaining, Good food, Good beer
Disadvantages: Can get busy

Brighton to many is London-by-the-sea to others the destination for a dirty weekend. I have lived in Brighton for over 20 years, I even tried to leave once but soon realised what a mistake I?d made! Over the years the Town (now officially a city) has outgrown these popular preconceptions and has developed into one of the liveliest centres for tourism, culture and entertainment in the south of England. *HISTORY* Up until the 16th century Brighton ...
...in the early 17th century Brighton became the largest town in Sussex. The town became known as a health spa due to the supposed medical properties of the seawater that would cure many diseases. The growing Royal interest of the Prince Regent (to become George IV) led to the building of a outlandish Palace the Royal Pavilion, on the outside taking its influences from the domed palaces of India. Later in the 19th century with the opening of the London ...

Sea Life Centre Brighton

Advantages: educational, fascinating and quite wonderful day out
Disadvantages: nothing

...to speak. At Brighton they have a brilliant underwater ‘Ocean’ tunnel. You can walk beneath the water and see all the fish swimming above and around you. It’s fascinating and well, I loved it. The ‘blurb’ in the Guidebook tells you it’s a ‘fascinating expedition of discovery through the uncharted depths of the sea’ or something similar. But it truly is. You can see and get up close to some of the ‘inmates’ ...
...the displays are in as natural an environment as possible with locations such as ‘the cliffs’, ‘sandy seabed’ and the ‘kingdom of the seahorse’ all housing rare and interesting fish. Is it just me or are Seahorse just the cutest little things? Here at the Sealife centre they have their own section, built especially for them. Tiny little mites darting and bobbing around in the water. No one can fail not to fall ...

Brighton Rock..s

Advantages: good atmosphere,
Disadvantages: none none!

...the beach is stoney. Brighton is a great place for domestic tourism. Its a lively town, which is great for couples and families alike. There is a lot to do there, and you'll never be bored! *~*Firstly the shops*~* There is Churchil Square shopping centre. This is a big mall, which is located in the town centre. Its home to some big retail outlets - from H&M, to Virgin, to Debehams, to BHS. Outside of the mall, is a long road (Western Road) which ...
...thats always good to see! Brighton people are friendly people :) *~*Around Brighton*~* There are many train stations (Brighton, Hove, Portslade, London Road.) Also, the bus network is very good, and quite affordable. There are many taxis too, use the green and white coloured Brighton and Hove ones. Accomondation wise in brighton, there are loads of hotels to choose from. Location wise, Brighton is sorted. Its about an hour away from London, with ...

go see the open houses

Advantages: good variety of artwork, absolutely free unless you buy some artwork, you get to see some lovely houses, meet some friendly artists
Disadvantages: you can't see them all, can be a bit tiring trekking around Brighton!

As part of the fringe festival in May, Brighton and Hove's many artists open their houses every weekend for the general public to come and see their artwork. This is a definite must-see. There are many dozens of open houses to visit and it is nigh on impossible to see them all. The best bet is to visit all of the houses in a particular district. What could be better than to leisurely walk around Brighton on a sunny warm May day and see the varied artwork of Brighton's artists. As well as admiring the artwork, you can usually buy any item that takes your fancy although you have to wait until the end of May to take it home with you. Many places serve refreshments so you can often sit in the garden and stretch your legs. Apart from the attraction of seeing local art, there is the bonus of getting some splendid views of Brighton ...

Not so Premier Travel Inn

Advantages: Bang in the center of Brighton, just seconds to the Lanes.
Disadvantages: It is on one of the busiest main roads in the city centre.

to stay here. Booking the 8 rooms was easy, I managed to do it all on-line at www.premiertravelinn.com and reserved all the rooms by Credit Card, all confirmation was e-mailed to me direct. Great no problems and was very impressed with the speed, that was until someone decided to drop out and I had a room spare, that was when the fun began. After being told in a rude manner by the Hotel that I was not able to alter the booking at all as it was a standard two night stay because it was the height of the season. I was not prepared to lose £130 and after a frantic search round the people who said no I was able to collar someone to attend. Name of the booking changed over the phone. Problem sorted. Phew! ---General--- Brighton is always a busy place and in the Summer even more so, the Hotel itself is going to be full of people ...

Review of Premier Travel Inn, Brighton

Brighton Rocks... But Very Quietly!

Advantages: A Beautiful, Beachside Suburb in Melbourne
Disadvantages: Pretty Expensive.

Brighton, a picturesque seaside suburb in the city of Melbourne, first rose to prominence as a destination for day-tripping Victorians in the 1860's. Since Melbourne's spread over the past century into a massive metropolis, it has principally evolved into a residential, inner suburb, but it still remains an excellent destination for a daytrip out of the city centre for any visitor to Melbourne. With Melbourne set to host the 2006 Commonwealth Games in March, it is certain to attract a fair amount of interest over the coming weeks and months. As a Melbourne native, this seemed a timely opportunity to review some of my favourite haunts, restaurants and the like? I feel compelled to begin with Brighton, as I lived there for years & years, and as my parents are still based there it's generally where I stay when visiting from the UK ...
