Rock, stoney beach, weirdness, chipshops...these are all things you may associate with Brighton. But, you should also be considering shops, restaurants, clubs, and yes, the beach is stoney.
Brighton is a great place for domestic tourism. Its a lively town, which is great for couples and families alike. There is a lot to do there, and you'll never be bored!
*~*Firstly the shops*~* There is Churchil Square shopping centre. This is a big mall, which is located in the town centre. Its home to some big retail outlets - from H&M, to Virgin, to Debehams, to BHS. Outside of the mall, is a long road (Western Road) which has many more stores (Marks and spencer, Boots, Topshop, GAP). There is great variety and choice. And dont forget to venture down towards the sea, because thats where the old Hanningtons was (Historic!), French connection and kookai are here too. (Near the s. laines)
Not too far away from the mall, are the laines.
They are divided into two, north and south. The South laines are the restaruanty bits, and they are slightly posher. The North laines has all the shops and a few restaurants and pubs too. Here, the bead shop is great, as is JU-Ju, a second hand clothing store. There are a lot of second hand clothes stores in Brighton, so you can get something retro and trendy.
*~*Restaurants - Oh the variety*~* Many restaurants are situated across Brighton. There is great choice, from chain names like mcdonalds and pizza hut, to curry places, to italian and chinese. There are a lot of vegetarian restaurants too. The best ones are food for friends, and wai kicka moo kow.
Restaurants vary in price. Many are cheap, such as Piccilos which has pizzas for about £5. If you are looking for something more upmarket, then Havana (Duke street) is lovely. It has great food, but quite expensive. Dont forget the fish and chips down on the seafront.
*~*Pubs - Everywhere!*~* There are loads and loads of pubs to choose from in Brighton. In the laines, the best one is the kensington, which has live music, infact, a few have live music. King and Queen along the Old Stein is massive, and very good. There are irish themed pubs too, like O'Niels, they are good fun
*~*Clubs - Something for everyone*~* Literally, something for everyone. The Event hostes a kids night (nicknamed nappy night) i think its on sunday, its for under 18s. If you're looking for something a bit more....well....grown up, then there is loads to choose from. The Event is near the seaside, and sometimes has themed nights. The zap, the honey club, these are quite similar. The volks is for drum and bass nights on a friday.
*~*The Beach.*~* Well, its stoney, thats for sure. Gets crowded in the summer months. The pier is good for family entertainment. There are many eateries and shops along the seafront too. Also, there is a nudest beach, if you're that way inclined! You can rollerblade/skateboard along the front, its a good place for this, because its smooth. Also, you can cycle along the specialist cyclepaths.
*~*The atmosphere*~* Just about anything goes in Brighton. Its a really chilled out place, which is great. However, quite a lot of homeless people, i reccomend you buy a big issue, for sure. Its pleasant in most areas and just a really happy, fun place to be. It gets crowded during the summer, with many tourists, but thats always good to see! Brighton people are friendly people :)
*~*Around Brighton*~* There are many train stations (Brighton, Hove, Portslade, London Road.) Also, the bus network is very good, and quite affordable. There are many taxis too, use the green and white coloured Brighton and Hove ones.
Accomondation wise in brighton, there are loads of hotels to choose from.
Location wise, Brighton is sorted. Its about an hour away from London, with direct trains leaving reguarly. Its easy to get to, thanks to the 7 platform station with direct trains from all over. At Brighton, you arent too far away from Newhaven (links to France), Bornemouth and other seaside resorts (But, why do you want them when you have Brighton?!)
And if you still arent entertained after all that, then theres the leisure center in nearby Hove, with swimming pool, and laser quest, there is a bowling alley. Failing all that, just go sit on the beach!

Well, us humble Midlanders can't compete with that - sounds cool :) I do know quite a few people from here at uni and they are definitely friendly if not slightly crazy. A good op. Craig
