I Mentioned Brunel, But I Think I Got Away With It
Advantages: Plenty to see - too much for a short visit probably Disadvantages: Beware the club district at chucking-out (and -up) time
...I'm not sure how Bristol has slipped through my fingers so easily before, after all, I live in west London, and it only takes me an hour to drive to Swindon, so Bristol should only take a further 40 minutes, I'd have thought.
I'd been to peripheral bits, like the Clifton Suspension Bridge (and the nearby Camera Obscura), and I'd even managed to visit the S.S Great Britain, Brunel's magnificent iron steam ship back in the 70s when it had first been ... ...we spent two nights in Bristol - the *expurgated version*. If this doesn't seem very comprehensive, bear in mind we were only there for what was effectively a day and an half.
*(The unexpurgated version would need a mention of dodging 18 year old girls throwing up outside wine bars and clubs - oops I HAVE mentioned it, sorry)
SATURDAY MORNING - PADDINGTON
09:58 We leave bang on time in a train that's practically loaded to the gunwales even leaving ...

A Bristolians guide to Bristol!
Advantages: Good range of activities, very attractive areas, lots of fun to be had Disadvantages: other areas are very dirty and run down
...the city and county of Bristol is the largest city in this area with its population at about half a million. It sits on the River Avon, which winds its way through the city and out into the Severn Estuary.
Getting to Bristol:
Bristol is easily accessed by road either on the M4 or M5 which intersect just outside Bristol at Almondsbury. It is then a short trip up the M32 (avoiding rush hour if you want to get there the same day!) which takes you ... ...heart of the city and Bristol Parkway, a few miles outside.
National Express coaches also run regularly to the bus station.
Firstly shopping, my favourite past time!
All in all, Bristol really has 3 main shopping areas and so I will cover each one.
Firstly, in the heart of Bristol is Broadmead. At the minute this area is undergoing a huge redevelopment to improve this area and so does look a bit like a building site in places, but despite this, ...

Bristol Transport
Advantages: Can be efficient when wants to be! Disadvantages: Could be busy/traffic at centre
Getting around in Bristol, can be sometimes quite difficult depending on where you wish to go and what you want to do! This is also the case in many cities when close to the centre.
--Getting to Bristol--
-By Air
In the outskirts of the city there is Bristol International Airport, if you are in need of getting to the centre of Bristol there is a coach/bus called the Bristol Flyer which takes you to the Bus Station or Train Station. -By Bus
There ... ...they can come from the suburbs of the city, some from Weston Super-Mare and Bath. The buses in Bristol are run by the company First Group, there are a few exception with a couple of bus routes by Abus and South Gloucestershire.
-By Car
Bristol has many access routes with the M5, M4 close-by. There are a number of multistorey car parks situated around Bristol, either just off the City Centre or just off Broadmead. The main multistorey carpark used ...

First bus? More like No bus.
Advantages: umm A lot of routes Disadvantages: Expensive, unreliable, dirty, not safe, inexperienced drivers with little English
First Bristol is the bus service offered to those in Bristol. I don't like to write reviews without something good to say about the product. So I will make an effort with this one.
There is not a sufficient alternative to using the First Buses. Abus run a few services stopping within the city of Bristol (not county which used to be Avon) Other than school runs there is:
57 - From Stockwood to the centre
349/649 - Bristol through Brislington and ... ...I have to say that First do offer a lot of different prepay tickets which can save you some money. (I will give examples of Adult prices) There are Season Tickets. These vary on the zone you choose. There are 2 zones.
Zone 1 is the centre and areas around it which First calls the Central Area.
Zone 2 covers the Central Area and outer Bristol (City not county)
First Week (7 consecutive days)
Zone 1 or 2 only - £11.50
Zone 1 and 2 - £15.50
First ...

Getting Around Bristol
Advantages: A variety of ways of getting around Disadvantages: Can be expensive and time consuming to get to certain places
...are plenty of ways of getting around the wonderful city of Bristol
*-* Car *-*
Being situated near the M4, M5 and the M32 Bristol has access from al over the country. Just get off at J19 on the M4 and your on the M32 into Bristol. It has a good road network so it is possible to travel all over by car. However, during the rush hours itt can get very busy in the centre and at Cribbs Causeway. There is plenty of parking; Galleries , Tollgate and Bond ... ...centre. Prices vary and so do trhe areas you can park in so check the meters and signs. There is plenty of off street parking a shorty distance away from the centre Therefore you can walk in or catch a bus. Cribbs has its own free car park with spaces for over 5000 cars.
*-* Bus *-*
Bristol has a regular bus service around Bristol and further such as Weston Super Mare and Bath. There is a night bus available which gives priority to females. Various ...
