Advantages: Clean, comfy, modern Disadvantages: Very expensive restarant and bar, rather sad swimming pool and gym
This hotel in in the centre of Bristol within waling distance of Temple Meads Station. If you know Bristol then you will know that this location then might mean convenience but it's not gorgeous - a lot of Bristol was bombed in the war and rebuilt in the 50s and 60s and it shows! The hotel itself is newer than that though, but when you arrive it does look a bit tired and in need of a facelift.
Parking is available and not difficult, though like most city centre budget hotels you have to pay extra for it, but I thought the £3.50 a night quite a good rate. It seemed a secure car park.
.
I checked in swiftly and the receptionist was helpful and friendly. I paid £104 a night for two people for an executive double (i.e. one grade up from the standard one) over the internet before we went. The hotel has a lot of floors (we were ...
Advantages: Good stopover Disadvantages: Not much to do
You may want to spend the night in BeloHorizonte only as a stopover, I do not really feel it is worth spending much time in the city, while Minas Gerias has got plenty of tourist places and few still undiscovered gems. A couple of addresses if you happen to get stuck in BeloHorizonte. Do not stay in the hotels around the rodoviaria, unless you intend to find cheap company. Hotel Continental at Avenida Parana should not cost you more than $20 for a double and has a good standard. For lunch, once you are in Praca Sete, have a look around and make your choice. If it is convenient for you, you can stay in BeloHorizonte and go to and come back from Mariana on the same day. There are 8 daily buses. ...

Advantages: Friendly, typical Brazillian city Disadvantages: Big City, easy to get lost
I am a Brazilian and have lived in BeloHorizonte for a few months, in which time i had a good opportunity to explore the city. It is a big city with lots to do. However it is not an overly touristy city so it is harder to appreciate it if you are unfamiliar with the language and customs. The shopping in the centre is good, with many cheap products to be found. The city itself is quite hilly and leafy so is interesting to look around.
I recommend visiting some of the parks on the outskirts of the city as these have beautiful views of the city and of nature. There is a park/square called Praça do Papa (Plaza of the Pope), on the outskirts of the city, this park/square offers fantastic views over Belo. Near this park/square there is Parque das Mangabeiras (Mangabeiras Park) which has some fantastic wildlife and beautiful walks. Just ...
