Harvester of Sorrow aka No Jewels in this Crown

Advantages: The salad cart, some of the desserts
Disadvantages: Can be bad service, limited menu, variable service.

The Crown Inn Harvester, 126 Bath Rd, Longwell Green, Bristol. 0117 9322849 The Crown Inn is one of a chain of Harvesters in the city, including Snuff Mills in Frenchay, Lamb and Flag in Cribbs Causeway and the Red Lion in Westbury, but it was decided on the Crown Inn because the Snuff Mills has a fishpond in the middle of it and the kids get more interested in the fish! So off we go at 6.30pm on a sunny Sunday, the place was very quiet, so we ...
...order your meals, I'm sure the fact that the indoors is now completely non-smoking assisted! They have an rapidy shrinking and unimaginative menu, the starters cost from £2.95 and include soup, the immortal prawn cocktail, chicken wings and more. Harvesters are known mainly for their spit roast chicken and steaks so the menu is mainly based around these two. A good one is the half a spit roast chicken and mash with onion gravy, at around £7.95 , ...

A Premier Preview

Advantages: Good food, accessible
Disadvantages: None

Preview Bar and Grill is situated in the, what I think is the, famous Cribbs Causeway just north of Bristol. You can get to it by coming off on junction 17 of the M5 and is right on the motorway so is really accessible from most places. Cribbs Causeway:- Cribbs Causeway is probably more commonly know for its shopping facilities which include Marks and Spencer and John Lewis being the biggest shops there with 135 further ...
...Pizza Hut and of course Preview Bar and Grill. Preview Bar and Grill:- Preview Bar and Grill is situated across the road from The Mall and is next to Hollywood Bowl and Vue Cinema so is perfect for those lazy nights out when you don’t want to have to travel far for all your entertainment. As with across the road at The Mall, there is ample parking which is all free 7 days a week. Although at busy times parking is a bit ...

'Ackee' restaurant for Bristol?

Advantages: Apparently the first Caribbean restaurant in Bristol
Disadvantages: Lack of atmosphere, paying extra for side dishes

...how we ended up at Plantation on the Gloucester Rd in Bristol, in this spot have been several restaurants that have been rated fantastic but have all gone under in months. A jinxed position perhaps? Could be, but I think its more a lot more to do with the fact theres absolutely no parking to be found. The surrounding streets are densely populated so be sure to leave at least 15 minutes to find a parking space and walk back to the place. Its quite ...

The Pleasures of Eating - Quincey

Advantages: Nice range of food, well cooked and tasty food
Disadvantages: No identity of its own

We weren't expecting to go out to eat today, we just popped along to a friends house, lucky if we stopped at a Burger King on the way home! We did stay a little longer than expected and ended up ravenous! To get to the friends we'd traversed a part of Bristol we didn't go to very often. Actually those of you who went to the Bristol Meet last year, may well know where I'm talking about. Yep. Its that American Grill and Bar right next to the Premier ...
...those of you who declined to make it, its in the Shield Retail Park on Southmead Road in Bristol. Just look for the Premier Lodge, you cant miss it! Quinceys is a chain pub restaurant, well as much a chain as 4 restaurants can be. Bristol, Sunderland and Watford and another I cant remember. They are all attached to Premier Lodges, as many of these places are want to be lately. Do they do the Lodges justice though? I don't know what I expected at ...

Diamond review  Jugs and Bristol, a tasty combination!

Advantages: Good food, cheap prices
Disadvantages: Lack of parking, cauliflower cheese

Partner wants Sunday lunch, so do I. But I don't want to cook it and partner cant! Lots of hinting later, I was holding out and Alan gave in, conceding to take us to a carvery. After debating between two we drove up to Maesnoll in the Whitchurch area of Bristol. Its a lovely 2 storey building. Its where it is that's the problem, which leads me to wonder if the building is quite a bit older than it appears. Its on a very busy crossroad's and the car ...
...It was a case of one in, one out when we arrived. When we walked in the scene was one of much rushing around, loud packed tables and rather oddly, cosiness! When we asked for a table there turned out to be a maximum of a 35 minute wait. We agreed and trotted off to the bar. This was an oasis of calm, its a large airy area with none of the hectiness of the other side. The place is a contradiction of styles, it has that 'ye olde cottagy' beams, stonework ...
