Rule Britannia, Britannia Rule The World..NOT!!!

Advantages: Close To Manchester Airport, Current Staff Are Very Good
Disadvantages: Tatty, Dirty, Smelly, Terrible Food, Awful Drinks

Having stayed at The Britannia Country House Hotel, about a mile up the road from this one, I would not have chosen to stay at another Britannia Hotel if my life depended on it, however we were working here and had to stick it out for a couple of nights in October. I have to admit I was expecting the worst.

==First Impressions==

As you approach the hotel you are me with one of the worst looking hotels you have ever set ...
...As you walk into the Britannia Hotel, the reception desk is directly to your left, just past that on your left also is a raised area with a pool table and a few antique computers. to you right is the bar area and beyond that the resturaunt. It is a little tired and in need of a refurb but I have seen worse to be honest. Unfortunately this is probably the best part of the hotel, apart from the business centre which was being refurbished while we were ... more

I stayed in the worst hotel in Britain!

Advantages: Good Location, Cheap
Disadvantages: So Many - See Review

...found three hotels within the Britannia group of hotels within its top ten list of the worst hotels to stay in the UK. At the very top of this poll was the Britannia Manchester Airport hotel where I had the "pleasure" of staying last October. We chose this particular hotel because the literature promised "a hassle free start to your holiday." A search through various websites for cheap hotels around Manchester Airport brought up the details of ...
...past the very plush looking Britannia Countryhouse Hotel. For a moment we got quite excited but soon realised that our bed for the night was a few hundred yards further up the road. The reception is right at the front of the hotel but the car park looked to be rather full so we pulled up outside to find out what the procedure was for booking in. Whilst one of our party ran inside we were quickly advised by a security man that we had to find a proper ...

Manchester Britannia Airport Hotel

Advantages: free parking
Disadvantages: see review

I would like to take this opportunity in sharing my experience in the Manchester Airport Hotel. My friend and I had booked a room (no. 321) for one night in the Manchester Airport Hotel for 11th August 2007 at the cost of 49 British pounds. Upon unpacking I noticed that of the two towels provided in the bathroom, the smaller one, showed a large very yellow stain running down the middle of it, the larger one was acceptably clean. One additional large ...
...and requested further towels from the young lady answering the phone. Within 2 minutes the night Manager rang back and suggested that I "look in the wardrobe". Having stated that I had indeed already done this, the "manager" started a debate with me. Here I quote from the hotel services hotel information brochure "An additional set of towels may be found the wardrobe" A sign in the room also states "If you need additional towels, please call the ...

Noisy, Smelly, Tatty Hotel Stuck In The 1970's

Advantages: Close To Manchester Airport
Disadvantages: Too Many To List, Needs A refurb, Needs A Good Clean, Noisy

BACKGROUND ******************* Ahh the Britannia Country House Hotel, a couple of miles from Manchester airport, the perfect place to stay the night before jeting off on our honeymoon, thought my new wife and I in August 2006. We booked online and only paid £64 for a double room with champagne on arrival, and it looked so modern and the name country house just added to the picture in our heads what a perfect start to our honeymoon. How wrong can you get. ON ARRIVAL AND CHECK IN ********************************** We arrived on a Saturday afternoon having got married on the Thursday and stayed a couple of nights at the hotel we had got married in, and as we parked on the large car park to the front and walked up to the front we noticed there was a wedding going on and they were having some photo's taken outside, the exterior ...

You won't have a problem getting up here

Advantages: Nice rooms, good rates (even rack), good service, convenient location
Disadvantages: Food could be better, no leisure facilities, out of town

my iron and ordered my taxi in record time, and when I returned in the evening slightly the worse for wear, I was given a litre bottle of still mineral water free of charge, I even got my early morning call ? although I was amused to note a disclaimer saying that if customers didn?t receive their call, and didn?t have an alternative means of waking up, it was not the hotels fault. PARK and DRIVE The hotel, being situated a few miles away from Birmingham airport, offers park and ride facilities from £65 for a family, the bus runs back and for to the airport ½ hourly throughout the day and night, although recalling the tragic accident in Manchester of a bus en-route to the airport from a Britannia hotel, I would think twice about this, particularly as parking at Birmingham is less than £7 per day. They are also thinking about providing ...
