Flew out with Brittania on 2/6/03 - so this flight is reasonably fresh in my mind.
Starting with the first of the problems which began at the check in desk. We were very close to the front of the queue - actually 3rd party to check in. We asked about extra leg-room - question ignored. When we received our boarding passes we discovered that we were sitting across the aisle from one another - ok so neither of us is a nervous passenger, but when you book and check in together at the front of a queue - surely this isnt too much to ask??
So, now we're on the plane - across the aisle from eachother. Welcome to the saddest bunch of air stewardesses I have ever had the misfortune to meet. During the entire flight, I dont think one of them cracked a smile - even at the other customers - and certainly not at me cos I was obviously the 'passenger from hell' - having been last on board and drinking my own beer - naughty I know - but sooo much cheaper!!
Next, we were delayed by the necessity of filling in SARS forms, which, of course, none of the staff had had the foresight to bring on the plane with them. Hence we were delayed by a good 15 minutes waiting for these forms to be photocopied and brought to the plane - I KID YOU NOT!
The food was edible - chicken slice in a mushroom gravy served with a rock hard bread roll and either tea or coffee - which is ok for most - but as I drink neither I politely asked for an alternative. I was told there was no alternative - and wasnt even offered a glass of water or something off the drinks trolley.
I found the in-flight entertainment completely unentertaining - Black Adder, Friends and Cow and Chicken were not my idea of how to enjoy a 4 1/2 hour flight.
The flight itself was bearable - usual charter plane cramped conditions etc.
The staff even failed to get the Duty Free round quick enough - they had to stop selling due to our iminent descent into our destination airport.
The only positive thing I can say is that our luggage was off the plane quickly and because we'd been "seated" towards the front of the plane - we were quickly off it!!! Oh, and headsets were provided for passengers free use - if they wanted to be "in flight entertained".
We didnt book direct with Britannia - but needless to say, if I can avoid them in future - I most certainly will!!
Am flying with them at the end of next month and not through choice. I am soooooo much looking forward to the experience, in a way that means NOT ;-) RR x x

We've just flown with Britannia - flight was cramped, staff were rude and I'd rather pay more than put myself through that again! Mx
