I recently went on holiday and flew from Newcastle. Rather than drive from Scotland on the same day we booked in to the Britania in what is as good as the grounds of the airport.
When you first pull up to the hotel you sort of think, oh my God. That is partly due to the fact that you have to pass the Travel Inn to get to it, which is brand new. From the outside the Britania looks a little dated.

A room for the night for two cost us £68, not at all bad for a hotel close to the airport.

Having said that, you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Parking is easy here, even though they do a stay and leave your car deal there are plenty of free car park spaces.

I have to say for a cheap hotel the rooms were immaculate. You get the usual stuff, bed of course and a shower. One possible let down was no bath and only a shower but nothing to bad there, just a preference. Also standard in the rooms are a TV and a coffee maker (essential). Overall the room was sparkling.
In the evening the room was very quiet despite the hotel being so close to the airport, so I wouldn't let it put you off.
Breakfast can be found not far from reception and better than that it started at a ridiculous time in the morning so plenty of time to get a bite to eat before an early flight.
There is a large bar in the main section of the hotel providing the usual drinks and a fine selection of lagers. One small thing here was when the bar was quiet the barman would disappear to do something else, always felt like he did it just when you wanted another drink. Also a pool table there if you like that kind of thing.
The evening meal was…reasonable. I would not say it was fantastic but it was good all the same. During the meal my wife ordered an Irish coffee, she has a thing for fresh cream, fair enough. When it came she asked the waiter for another as the canned cream appeared to be off. He wasn't best at his people skills and neither was the restaurant manager but in the end she did her best to sort the problem out and provided a discount for the troubles. So a plus there also.
All in, a good stay, would stay there again for the one night. Plenty of space to move around even when it is busy.
