I have over my working life saved up BA miles in order to visit my family in Australia. I have tried for three years running to book two business class seats only to be told that none were available. When I wrote to BA I received a letter back saying that these flights were only available to the select few and that I should consider going elswhere. I now have 430000 useless airmiles. I have also been told that my miles will be cancelled unless I continue to to business with them or one of their partners, so adding insult to injury. All this is a far cry from the attractive picture that they give you when you join the scheme, as far as I can see it does not state anywhere in their literature that you can only use the miles on certain flights and that you have to be one of the select few in order to get longhaul seats. I cannot be the only person who has been conned by the worlds favourite fraudsters.

I have two weeks ago just returned from a holiday in Budapest. The lady wife and I flew Club Class return on BAmiles Executive Club redemption tickets on exactly the flights we wanted. I have seen some restrictions on popular routes in Europe and thought them reasonable. I can confirm however that, for several months into the future, for Sydney & Melbourne, there are no Club class redemption seats available. I think that you have to have zero activity on your Executive Club account for three years before you loose the miles you have.

Select Few? I think the flights are so restricted with miles, that you need to book way in advance. I have same problem at the moment

THis seems to back up what others have said about BA. maybe theyshould look to their customer skills if they want to be the flagship carrier/
