British Airways (BA) seems to evoke strong emotions from its customers; a real love hate relationship I would say. I have to confess, from my experience of long haul leisure travel in economy going back to the 80's I held a fairly negative perception. Objectively this is probably not entirely fair, however, a 5-hour delay in Kuwait on one return flight and a 30-hour delay to another are not easy to forget. I tried them after a hiatus ... ...an inferior service to the British Airways flights out of Heathrow in Business (also there is the issue of timings which are not great for business travellers and price which I will come on to). Anyway, I therefore have to travel from heathrow in most cases and that is never a hugely enjoyable experience, role on the opening of Terminal 5 I say. Check in
In both airports the check in arrangements are generic - by this I mean wherever you are going ...

...WHO ARE THEY?
The original British Airline, and the first full UK carrier, they fly to virtually every part of the world through their operations, which incorporate a range of franchises and membership of the "oneworld" alliance, which also includes American Airlines, Aer Lingus, Cathay Pacific, FinAir, Iberia, LanChile and Qantas.
From their website: On their own they fly to 152 destinations in 72 countries, on the oneworld network, 565 destinations ... ...in 141 countries, that is a lot of flights!
Needless to say, after 911, they hit some hard times, but in the last financial year reported a substantial operating profit, despite dropping the prices of many of their economy flights substantially, sometimes making them more competitive than their budget counterparts, the downside for me is that they do not fly from Wales.

...to write an op on British Airways, having probably made over 200 flights with them all round the world (I would say over 95% of them with BA).
This op will really concentrate on the latest flights I have been on, and my experience of BA on these flights.
** Who are British Airways? **
They are basically the national airline for the UK (although Richard Branson might have something to say about that!). BA fly to most destinations around the world, ... ...right up to the largest 747 Jumbo’s They also have the dubious honour of taking Concorde out of service (big mistake as far as I’m concerned!)
So the flights that I have been on in the last month!
Gatwick to Amsterdam £ 380
Heathrow to Stockholm £560.80
Gatwick to Aberdeen £358
Heathrow to Madrid £599.90
Bristol to Dublin £282.80
These costs are for fully flexible fights, and include all the various airport fees, taxes and charges.
So! To ...

Advantages: Very good new product for intercontinental flights, good service to premium passengers, nice lounges. Disadvantages: Terrible meals, small seat pitch in Economy, rather unfriendly staff in Economy, outdated service philosophy, wrong strategies.
British Airways boast themselves for "defining 21st Century Air Travel” with a range of new products and services. And whilst BA is indeed a very innovative airline, it still hasn't invented the right medicine against its greatest flaws: wrong focus and bad attitude. And bad taste, I should add.
If we believe the official BA lingo, then everything about this airline is new. New Concorde, New First, New Club World, New World Traveller Plus, New World ... ...writes the 103rd opinion on British Airways. It appears that this is the first opinion in this category which is based on the experience of more than just a handful of flights. I have flown with them around fifty times throughout the last eight years, and hence feel entitled to a qualified opinion on BA's products and services. I will restrict myself to BA's Club and Traveller Classes (Business and Economy), as these are the classes I have travelled ...

Advantages: Variety of destinations and flights Disadvantages: Poor customer relations
In February our family holiday took us to Florida. This was to be a special holiday because it was probably the last time we would all be together on holiday - both my children are grown up and really don't want to accompany us anymore. However this time my mum was also coming. At the time she was 75 and it was her first visit to America so it really was an extra special occasion. Because of the terrible September 11th tragedies there were fewer ... ...advance and before the sad events of September 11th. As on previous occasions, we had booked to leave from our local airport. Around Christmastime 2001 I heard on the radio that all flights to America from our local airport had been cancelled by way of economy measures. We had paid the deposit months ago and the final payment was due. My husband called into the travel agents to ask if they knew anymore but they told him they had not heard of the ...
