My experience of BA has been unhappy. The last time I flew with them was to Milan, economy class. The outward flight was delayed half an hour because one of the passengers hadn't turned up, so that person's luggage had to be taken off the plane. When we did get off the actual flight was OK, but the attitude of the hostesses left a lot to be desired - they seemed mostly bored, moody and unwilling to be very helpful. The food was appalling: a cold piece of chicken roll and a stale tasting salad cream. At least the sweet was edible. When I arrived at Milan I found that my luggage had had its strap torn; I was severely annoyed to put it mildly. This alone cost me £20.
The return flight was no better, with the hostesses handing out a catalogue of typical 'duty free' items available to buy for prices no cheaper than from your local high street. The food was as bad as before and the flight itself very uncomfortable due to turbulence. The plane itself looked rather out of date and the interiors rather seedy. As for seating, it was extremely uncomfortable, especially for people who weigh more than about 8 stone - I could only do up my belt with great difficulty.
BA will get you to your destination, but economy clas is certainly to be avoided. I have flown KLM, Virgin, Lufthansa and Alitalia and they are ALL superior in this particular class.

I think a lot of this depends on the luck of the draw when it comes to flights. I've flown BA for years and always found them to be better than average - and a lot nicer than Lúfthansa.
