I am an adventurous "Granny" constantly being told by my daughters to "act my age" I love to travel to far flung places where we always have adventures. I also design files for my plotter cutter whenever I have spare time.

Recently we tried out British airways after a gap of over 10 years, (had a bad experience then) We flew from Longhaul as it was the only airline flying non stop direct to our destination.
Check in was great as we checked in over the internet before leaving for the airport, We had to queue for almost an hour to hand over our baggage though as the airport was so busy they had only 1 dedicated baggage drop off point and this was also being used for normal check ins.
The plane was not at its best, it looked new from the outside having been apinted in the new logo, inside was another story, the floor, walls and seats were dirty, I had to clean the dirt from the tray before it could be used. My seat was broken and I was advised that I would just have to stay there as there was no other seat available on the plane.11 1/2 hours in this seat was not the best thought on my mind, I spent most of the flight standing up, Still one consolation no prospect of DVT developing.
When the food arrived my pre ordered special meal(Due to severe food allergy The plane would have to land and I would be taken off to hospital if I ate the wrong food) was not there and I was unable to have anything to eat, the stewardess just gave me a tray and then ignored me, after about 3/4 of an hour we finally managed to get some attention by going to the galley, the Purser was called and appologised for the treatment we had received, the stewardess was brought back to us but just denied everything, (In these days of accusations of Air rage one is reluctant to be too assertive for fear of accusation)
Finally 2 hours later I was given what was supposed to be "food" I still dont know what it was as it wasnt even tasted, it appeared to be a mush and we suspected was leftovers mashed up together. I was actually extected to eat this
I find the attitude of BA staff has not changed over the years in fact it has become worse, is this normal with BA or have we just been unlucky, or perhaps spoilt by some of the top class airlines we have flown with in the past few years?
I think it is reasonable to expect a pre ordered meal to be available for medical reasons, BA advised that they cant guarantee this will be on the plane as sometimes it gets "lost" there was no explanation regarding the obvious broken seat only that it would have to do.
I appreciate that there are schedules to keep and thousands of flights by the airline every day but I have given BA their second chance and will never fly with them again.
The return flight was a bit better but the palne was still not properly cleaned, rubish on the floor and crumbs on the seat, it was not broken though so I was able to cat nap on the overnight flight. The food was there but was awful so I resorted to eating the sandwich and snacks brought with us from the airport. At least we were ready prepared this time.
Has this type of attitude been experienced by other people with BA? Well done BA you have once again lost my business but this time it is for ever.

Good op, I've never had any problems with BA, I think they are good!

That sounds terrible. I hope you still had a good holiday apart from the flight. I have been abroad twice now, I cant remember who we flew with, but the service was excellent and the plane was very clean. Thanks for the warning though about this company - I will steer clear of them!

Advantages: Check-in was a breeze. Comfortable seating and decent service. Disadvantages: Poor punctuality meant we were nearly diverted to a different airport.
