This review is on a very specific point relating to lost luggate and British Airways. On a recent trip, I was returning from South America to London via Dallas USA. The San Jose-Dallas trip was an American Airways partner flight of BA. Unfortunately, the check-in girl at San Jose did not manage to book me through all the way from San Jose to London Gatwick, thus resulting in me being stranded in Dallas for about 8 hours (missing my connecting flight) whilst American Airways sorted things out. American Airways admitted that what had happened was their fault and tried to liaise with BA about putting me on another flight to London Gatwick.

Unfortunately,my luggage had gone totally missing. From London Gatwick I was travelling on home to Belfast Northern Ireland. The BA staff informed me that, if my luggage should eventually be found, they could not deliver it from London to Northern Ireland as they no longer fly there. They have taken London-Belfast flights off their route. Thus they said that my options were to have a friend pick up my luggage in London and somehow then get it over to me in N.Ireland, or that they could deliver it to Dublin or Shannon in the Republic of Ireland and I could come and collect it. I was appalled. If this is correct, it is shocking. People in Northern Ireland are being disadvantaged because BA has taken the route off. If it is not correct, BA staff are giving out the wrong information to customers. I did query this with other BA staff and was told a variety of other versions - none of which was much more helpful.

Fortunately, when I explained the situation to American Airways, they accepted responsibility as all the problems were due to their mix-up They had the luggage delivered to my house in a taxi, when it finally showed up.

I must also point out that BA refused to help as regards missed connections between London and Belfast, as I was not booked on a BA flight on that route. I was booked on Easyjet. I obviously could not be booked on a BA flight, as no such flight exists. Thus, they would not help with missed connections etc, and suggested that I should have booked with them and flown to Dublin instead (which is at the other end of the country from where I live).

It seems unfortunate that Northern Irish customers should be left in this awkward position, when it was BA's decision to take the Belfast-London flights off.
