I booked flights with British Airways when there was a ridiculously good offer on flights from Manchester to New York JFK for £252 return. Our party was made up of four adults and we took advantage of the online check-in in order to choose our seats and speed up the process at the airport.
We flew World Traveller class, which is nice way of saying economy. It was a decent size though, we had picked seats in the cabin nearest the back, which I wouldn't do again knowing now that turbulence feels worse towards the back of the aircraft. I'm a nervous flyer at the best of times and I particularly hate turbulence. We had a little welcome pack on our seats when got on the plane which consisted of sleep mask, flight socks, toothpaste and face wipes etc. which I thought was nice, to go with our blanket and pillow.
We took off on time and it was a fairly uneventful flight, although the personal TV screens did have a minor fault and the system needed to be rebooted which took around half an hour.
The bar service was complimentary and you were served wine with lunch which I thought was a nice touch, and I was really impressed with the on demand TV service. I watched Shrek 3, The Simpsons Movie, a few episodes of Friends and Ugly Betty and there was loads of other movies and TV shows to choose from.
The meal service was poor though, not enough chicken meals were put on the aircraft so by the time we were served there was no choice but to have beef. Didn't seem too bad at the time but by the time we landed three of our party had stomach upsets which seemed a bit dodgy given that the fourth member was fine and she didn't eat the meal.
Overall, for the low price that we paid, it was decent value for money and I can't complain. I'm not sure that I would fly British Airways again though, maybe only if there was no alternative.
